Today, OnePlus officially shared the industry’s first 90Hz experimental report from Samsung’s Display R&D Center in Korea. Samsung’s R&D Center Image Quality Analysis Department is composed of dozens of senior screen development experts from South Korea. Based on their expertise, they then quantify and study screen quality and regularly publish papers in industry associations in homeland and abroad.
As you may have already understood, the subject of the latest study was the screen we find on the OnePlus 7 Pro at 90Hz, which was put against the 60Hz display of the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus: 60Hz Screens Are “Difficult” to Use
So, after various comparison tests and experiments, the quality experts obtained the following experimental results:
“OnePlus 7 Pro 90Hz fluid screen – which uses the latest technology of Samsung AMOLED – has 40% higher dynamic picture response speed (MPRT) compared to the OnePlus 6T (60Hz).”
Samsung confirms that the high refresh rate (90Hz) helps achieve faster picture refresh than the normal refresh rate (60Hz); thus better and faster elimination of visual residue for a smoother user experience.

This experiment also answers why when you look back at the ordinary 60Hz screen from the 90Hz one on the OnePlus 7 Pro, there will be an intuitive feeling of “difficulty”.
Samsung Display said that the “90Hz refresh rate screen became available to everyone in May this year with the OnePlus 7 Pro. This screen is of great significance for Samsung Display and starts a new era of high refresh display-equipped smartphones; an important step forward. We believe that the new 90Hz OnePlus 7T series will give everyone a more smooth experience.”
At the same time, OnePlus officially listed some advantages of the 90Hz fluid screen:
- The 90Hz screen refresh rate is 50% higher than that of a normal 60Hz mobile phone;
- 1000 nits peak brightness, the screen is clear under strong light;
- HDR10+ certification, without over-exposing and with more details in dark parts;
- TUV low blue eye protection, 40% blue light filtering;
- Color reading mode makes reading more pleasing.
