Honor 9X made its initial debut back in July in China. But due to the infamous Huawei ban, the phone never made it to the international shores until now. The phone is now finally available outside China but as a rebranded Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus to feature Google Mobile Services(GMS) which is really a bummer, especially for long time Honor X series fans.
The international Honor 9X is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 710F rather than Kirin 810 as found in the original Chinese version. It’s a pity because the Kirin 810 SoC is a major selling-point for the handset, but with the Kirin 710F that won’t be the case. It comes in two variants, one with 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM and another with 6GB RAM / 128GB ROM. The front of the phone is equipped with a 6.59-inches FHD+(2340 x 1080 pixels) TUV Rheinland-certified IPS LCD panel without any notch or punch-hole to achieve a whopping 91% screen to body ratio. That is because of the 16MP front camera(f/2.2 aperture) which resides in a motorized pop-up module.

The back of the device is made of glass that features the same X pattern as the original Chinese Honor 9X despite it being a rebranded Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus. The fingerprint sensor resides on the back unlike the original which comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. However, the triple camera setup remains the same which includes a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens, an 8MP sensor with 120-degree ultra-wide lens(f/2.4 aperture), and a 2MP depth sensor.
As far as software is concerned, the international Honor 9X once again disappoints us with EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie. But it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and hybrid microSD card slot to further expand the storage if needed. Last but not least, a respectable 4,000mAh battery runs the phone with USB Type-C charging.
The international Honor 9X is already up for sale in Russia for RUB 18,990 ($230) for the base variant and comes in Black and Blue colour options. It is expected to launch in other European markets like the Netherlands and Asian markets like India soon.
