Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 won’t receive Android 10 update

Samsung started rolling out the Android 10 stable update for the Galaxy S10 in several regions. Following this, the company decided that it was the perfect time to unveil its Android 10 update roadmap. The list with Galaxy smartphones that are eligible for the Android 10-based OneUI 2.0 update is already live in India, China and in the Philippines. The Android 10 update schedule doesn’t include the Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8 smartphones. It seems to be a solid confirmation that Samsung’s 2017 flagship has reached a dead end when it comes to Android updates.

Gizchina News of the week

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ came back in March 2017 featuring Android 7 Nougat. It was the latest Android version available at that time. The same happened with the Galaxy Note 8 which came with the same Android flavor. Samsung promised two major Android updates for these devices. In 2018 these handsets got Android Oreo, and this year it was time for Android Pie to make an apparition. And apparently it was the end of the line for these devices that won’t be treated with Android 10.

While those news aren’t surprising, users will be disappointed with it. After all, these devices still offer great specifications being able to perform brilliantly. Samsung’s roadmap for Android 10 includes as many as 40+ Galaxy devices. But unfortunately, the former flagships are absent.

That just SUCKS!… I love my S8 and I’m certain it could handle anything an S9 or even S10 could do. Thanks for nothing whomever is in charge of this crap. Maby the iPhone doesn’t look so bad after all.

I have a Note 8 but I am not worried about it. It’ll still function moving forward.

To me it’s stupid to keep coming out with phones when updating them should be the way to go

They just don’t understand how much we the people pay for phones… It shouldn’t matter how many major updates a phone gets… Just give people the update

I would not worry if you don’t have the latest Android 10 update on your phone, as long as can install and run the latest software from the Google Ply Store it’s all that matters, and matter of fact I’m writing this message from my 4 year old SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab S2 10.5 with a Logitech Bleutooth keyboard and mouse.

Almost all major phone companies except for google(pixel) and OnePlus, give their phones only 2 major upgrades. For the s8 that would mean Android 8 and Android 9.

To be honest. If you buy a phone. You have to look at all points what are important for you. And choose between multiple phone companies.

The 2 year major update rule is something you can’t just blame Samsung for.

Do your research and get phones that match all of your preferences.

MY phone had become unstable installing crappy apps. I’ve deleted all of the apps my 5 year old downloaded and my 8+ is amazing again..However 2 1/2 years is not enough time for Samsung to stop doing major updates. I spent $864 on this phone. I’m really pissed that my phone will be neglected. Apl gives 4 years. Must be time to move on to another phone manufacturer.

Nope it isnt and if they do its a bad thing. I moved fron apple because my s3 s4 and 5c all failed badly year 3 due tp the updates and the way they made my battery go. And only last year we found out apple did some battery tricks to force upgrades. Apple.is not the choice either. Hell lenova os prety week too. When devices cost this much there is no excuse to not suport them for 10 years.

Yup, I feel the same way like most of you and I understand what the others are says as well, about 2 years is the norm. Both sides got a point. But, if Samsung cant afford to give all its renditions an update because it too expensive that is something I dont believe. While we are stuck here shelling out our hard earn dollars, my note 8 costs me close to a grand. Can you image how much millions Samsung has profited. This non-updated problem is simply a marketing technique of which will back fire some day. I too will change over to another brand, thus the American way, we so have choices!

Boycott Samsung…ridiculous that the S8 is not getting Android 10. With so many android options, I’m going to pass on further Samsung products. They got the leverage and they are going to use it to force me to the 11, ain’t going to work!

I got samsung note 8 and Tab S4. It is a bad sign of samsung to reduce their customers. Spending a large amount of money must have worth outcome.
If they do such thing it is high time to move other company product which give same functions with very reasonable price.

A forced bixby buton, a watch that fails badly at contactless payments, a tv that does not work with plex anymore and a tv that gave me adverts while watching my own movies over a hdmi and not streamed and now not updating a 3 year old phone. This is truely my last samsung product i will buy. Wow a near 1k phkne and they cant suport it for a good amount of time.
