Microsoft has officially confirmed the design of the Xbox Series X. Nevertheless, we are still waiting for the official key details of this console. As for Sony PS5, we may have to wait until February (5th 0r 15th) for some official information to hit the web. As of now, there is no official invitation to the rumored PS5 event which makes the February 15th date more likely. There will be a fight to the finish line for Sony and Microsoft. However, the leaks and speculations, for now, suggest that the PS5 has an edge over the new Xbox.
The latest report from a Twitter user @Tidux suggests that the final dev kits of the PS5 are out and it beats the new Xbox in key areas. @TiduxĀ is known for his fairly accurate leaks about gaming products. Hereās the insiderās tweet on the subject:
CPU PS5 = XSX
GPU PS5 < XSX (less the 1TF)
RAM PS5 > XSX (BW and size)
SSD PS5 > XSX (Speed and size)
Performance PS5 > XSXThis is what info i have gathered over the last few weeks. Final dev kits for PS5 are out.

While both consoles will come with the same processor, the Xbox Series X will get a better GPU. Nevertheless, the PS5 comes with better and faster RAM as well as a bigger capacity SSD. This is just a rumor from a fairly accurate source and its nothing close to official. In all honesty, the better RAM and SSD capacity could influence buyers. However, when it comes to gaming consoles, you will need much more than RAM and SSD to convince Xbox users to swap to PlayStation.
Sony PS5 & Microsoft Xbox Series X previous leaks
The current leak only verifies older speculations which believes that the Xbox Series X will deliver better GPU performance than the PS5. There were also reports that the new PlayStation will feature a faster solid-state driveĀ than the Xbox.
In addition, Microsoft has a marketing plan which may actually work for the company. The company has two models of the Xbox Series X. One is reportedly cheaper than the PS5 while the other is more expensive than the PS5. While this seem to be a good marketing plan, Microsoft has to be careful, it could also be dangerous. The high-end Xbox needs to be obviously better than the PS5 (most unlikely) while the cheap Xbox has to be significantly cheaper.
So no solid facts at all? Nice. Good journalism there Mr geologist. Well done.
Wow. 2-3 rumors and you already know the console war winer. How is a bigger SSD a key area compared to better GPU?
Not a single fact, sounds like an article written by a fanboy. This is why journalism is where it’s at… facts , facts , facts. 9.2 Tf compared to 12 Tf is way more than 1.
Microsoft will use GPU accelerated ray tracing which is very taxing so they need a powerful GPU and on the other hand sony will use dedicated ray tracing hardware separated from the main GPU hence doesn’t need to equal Xbox .
If GPU performance gap is not that big (like 1 TERAFLOPS) then sony gonna dominate in that department too.
Except of course that almost every other leak puts the GPU variance at 3TF not 1 or less than 1.
Sony won’t have any money left to actually complete the PS5 if they keep paying for all these articles to be written. #sponseredcontent
Actually just read the url didn’t realise this was GizChina, probs just a coronavirus fever dream
what can you expect from a guy who plays in the dirt all day
Bc graphics processing becomes irrelevant when it’s not able to transfer data fast enough to the gpu to render it. Ask a pc gamer, a great ssd is the best investment you can make in a gaming rig. The transfer rates from storage to actualization is by far the biggest leap forward in gaming today. The best gpu in the world is nothing but a brick if it’s not getting the data fast enough to make use of it.
Basically, if true, MS welded bald tires onto their shiny new sports car. It’s still a new sports car, but it will never be able to fully realize its potential. Though the tech illiterate will still think that matters, despite as much as a gbps gap depending on ssds. To give you an idea, take the speed of the current gens hdd, multiply it by 4, and that’s the type of possible gap between ssds we may very well see. That gap could be closer to 2gbps, but I don’t think MS would risk a low-mid grade ssd. Not considering Sony’s partner, who they’d only have one reason to partner with.
It’s really sad that articles like this pass for news and show up in my google news feed.
This is the same guy that said Death Stranding wasn’t coming to PC.
Um. So may I point out that when it comes to as game running and looking better the gpu is what it’s about. Ps5 will load faster with more ram and better ssd… but will it look better??? I’m fine with a game taking 1 to 2 seconds longer to load if the fps is higher.
It’s not simply a bigger ssd, though that is a huge deal considering the price of larger ssds. Its the ssds speed. Currently, the biggest potential for growth in computing, and gaming especially, is the data transfer rates from storage to actualization. Cpu’s can handle data faster than we can get it to them these days with generally about 0.1ms latency. From there it the data is sent to the gpu with about 10-12ms of latency. Where the ability to process more, if only a ms or so slower, will outweigh such a small boost in speed. Gpu speed is really only important if all things are otherwise equal.
Wait is he really saying Faster RAM and Storage beats a faster GPU?
You can tell the person who wrote this favours the ps5 lol! Xbox will always beat whatever pony have.
“Some guy on Twitter said a thing, better make an article about it pretending it’s even remotely close to fact!”
This is bad “journalism.”
Here’s some solid facts created by some random (might as well be 4chan) post, no doubt a fanboy, retyped by some other fanboy, neither of whom can justify their undeniable love for a plastic box.
Great journalism
Love whichever box of plastic you like, but for god sakes, keep your bs for peeps who care, and do some real work
Game pass ultimate, xCloud (which Iām playing this week here in Canada), Accessible Controller for those with physical disabilities. My guy, Microsoft is bringing itās A+ game here and everyone whoās gonna set the Series X aside is gonna be in for surprise.
edit: itās Microsoft, come on now.
Sounds a little one sided here haha
If you know anything and I mean anything about transfer rates, they are not referring to PCIE AT ALL, this is SSD tech vs HDD which in that instant will have 0 effect on the frames and performance of your games while you are playing anything. If we are referring to PCIE speeds and latency between the CPU and GPU based on how the SoC is setup that AMD created for the consoles that is 1000000% a different conversation, but the assumption is that the layout will probably be the same with the performance going to Microsoft, or them being on par in performance based on leaks and rumors. There are even benchmarks showing little difference, depending on the game, for PCIE 3.0 vs 4.0 if you look things up online. The only way that an an HDD would be terrible is if it failed, BUT an SSD can and will fail over time as well, SSD are moving towards the future with better NVME technology but it’s very expensive, both companies, yes don’t included, will not be putting a 300 dollar NVME SSD inside there consoles because the SOC itself is probably 60-80% of the cost of the entire thing, and if the rumors are real that it’s going to be on par with graphics cards around the 500 dollar mark, there is no way In hell either company can do anything to put them in and sell at a decent price, it’s actually impossible without the idea of loosing profits. Please do research before you comment because you’re not helping anything at all lol….
Lol wait, so the PS5 is somehow better than the X series because the RAM is ābetterā and the SSD is larger capacity? Yet the X series has a more powerful GPU and the same processor. RAM plays little role in the overall performance of a PC/console given theyāre not low grade, which neither will be for each console and considering most people use an external SSD these days, the PS5 having a larger SSD means absolutely nothing here. This authors article offers nothing but a PS5 fanboys point of view who has no technical understanding of what matters in a console let alone a PC.
So what you saying is 2080ti with Sata 3 SSD is way worse experience than 2060 with Nvme? š
Well that’s not true from The spec list they are even apart form xbox has ssd but
The only thing is, you are the only person on the internet that thinks the difference will be only one teraflop
š The only bit that’s really going to make a difference is the GPU if the CPU is the same. How on earth is Sony beating them? Absolute nonsense
This. The longest loading game on console is GTA5. 95% of all other games put you in game ready to play in 30-60 seconds. Iād much rather have my game look pretty than load quickly, within reason of course. Nobody has final specs and yet we have all this speculation and even what is speculated here is completely wrong. Sony is paying big bucks to convince console owners that load speeds are crucial here when in reality theyāre not bad already. Iāve literally heard nobody on console wishing for a faster loading game before it looking better and having higher FPS, two things a larger capacity SSD wonāt affect.
This is the most garbage article I’ve ever read. Just shut down this Sham of a website.
You should all embarrassed to publish anything like this.
You guys don’t even deserve a website
It’s quite sad that THIS kind of garbage “reporting” gets ANY traction. Until Sony AND Microsoft release “official” specs, nothing should be considered worthy of reporting.
Dear “Author” of this terrible article, please stop writing and go back to your sandbox.
Yeah this “source” is not credible at all, as someone pointed out in the top reply tweet to this guy, he was totally wrong on Death Stranding not coming to PC.
Faster RAM can have a benefit, but faster storage is meaningless once you’re already using an SSD which both consoles are. Unless Sony’s SSD has a monstrous dram cache that can be loaded up with the game instantly to then run off of that RAM I would not expect to see any real world performance boost at all.
So not only is this speculation at very best but according to you RAM and SSD speed (at least one of those components can be swapped out) is more important than GPU š¤£š¤£
You clearly have no actual understanding of what the key components of a console are and are just fanboying.
P.S. I wouldn’t be bragging about never being more than a metre from your PC neckbeard.
