Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 2020 Notebook launched in China


Samsung today held a launch event in China where it took the wraps off its 2020 flagship products. That includes the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Z Flip and a new notebook. The new Notebook PC dubbed Samsung Galaxy Book Ion 2020.

Specifications and features

Worth noting that the Galaxy Book Ion isn’t an unknown laptop model. The product made its first appearance last year along with the Galaxy Book Flex Alpha in October 2019. However, it’s the first time that this particular model is reaching the Chinese market. The laptop adopts an ultra-thin, lightweight and portable build. The Notebook is only 12.9mm thick, weighing in at just 970 grams. The laptop features a 13.3-inch display with an FHD resolution. While the display doesn’t reach 2K, it is said to feature QLED technology. It’s not a surprise, after all, this is a high-end Samsung laptop. The screen reaches up to 600nit of brightness and has German VDE certified 100% color rendering volume.

The Galaxy Book Ion packs a tenth-generation Intel Core chipset, available in both Core i5-10210U and Core i7-10510U versions. The laptop also features up to 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB NVMe hard drive. In terms of battery life, the laptop boasts a large 69.7Wh battery. It promises up to 22 hours of battery life with support for wireless charging. It also includes reverse charging, users only need to press the Fn + F11 key to wirelessly charge the smartphone.

Other specs include AKG Stereo speakers, dual-array microphones and a 720p HD web camera. The laptop also boasts WiFi 6+, Bluetooth 5 and fingerprint recognition. The laptop also features an HDMI port, a Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.0, and so on. Last but not least, there’s a card reader slot offering support for UFS and MicroSD cards.

Pricing and Availability

Samsung, unfortunately, didn’t specify the price and listing date. However, the laptop is already on the reservation at JD.com. The Core i5 version costs 10,599 Yuan ($1,513) while the Core i7 version retails for 11,599 Yuan ($1,655). The laptop is only available in the silver color.
