Nokia XpressMusic gets 3C certification, launch is imminent

HMD Global successfully revived the Nokia brand and brought it to the smartphone era. Instead of the “dead-on-arrival” Windows Phone, the new Nokia devices run Android 10. The company is gathering some achievements such as the title of fastest-brand to deliver Android updates. Despite the success of Nokia smartphones, HMD Global also gives some love to the brand’s old-school feature phones. The company even released new feature phones with 4G connectivity recently. Now, the brand is about to revive the Nokia XpressMusic.

The device in question beast TA-1212 model number and has received 3C certification. It’s a good signal that the company is almost ready to unveil this new feature device. However, there’s a small surprise. We are not going to see a new version of the XpressMusic with seamless 4G connectivity. For this particular device, the company will stick with 2G networks. Most carriers still have active 2G networks, however, some already shut theirs down focusing on 3G, 4G and in the recently released 5G standard.

Gizchina News of the week

Nokia XpressMusic

China and countries of the Eurasian Economic Union do have old-school networks, though, there’s still a market for basic phones like the Nokia XpressMusic. Besides the network standard, the handset will also boast a 1,200mAh battery. Unfortunately, the charger is a basic one, outputting only 550mA. This feature phone will take several hours to get fully charged. However, basic devices like this one also have great battery life.

We’re not expecting advanced features and applications considering the slugginess of 2G networks. This is just a basic phone for calls, messages and as the name suggests you can use it as an MP3 player.

There’s no word about the launch date, but we expect HMD to give more details soon.
