We’re still waiting for Lenovo legion to come and join the gang of gaming smartphones of 2020. However, we decided to build a list of the hot gaming-centric devices that already debuted this year. The gaming segment is becoming highly popular in recent years, and the popularity will only grow with the advancements of hardware. Companies are betting high to attract the customer’s interest in adopting fancy design, high-end performance chips, and stunning display quality. Without further ado, let’s go the list of the Best Gaming phones of 2020 so far.
Black Shark 3 / 3 Pro
The Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro are Xiaomi’s bet on the gaming segment. This year, the company took the wraps off two new smartphones with high-end features and unique design.
The Black Shark 3 series is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The handset also includes 256GB of onboard UFS 2.0 storage. The Pro variant includes a massive 7.1-inch QHD+ AMOLED panel with 3,120 x 1,440 pixels of resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The handset has a 270Hz touch sampling rate, which means better response time while gaming. The handset also comes with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and supports the MEMC motion compensation technology.
The Shark 3 Pro includes pop-up shoulder buttons. They are one of the major differentials in the design and act as trigger buttons while gaming. Therefore resulting in a true console controller-like experience. The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery with 65W charging support. If you’re not desperate for the fast-charging you can also opt for the 18W output via the magnetic charging dock.
Nubia Red Magic 5G
The recently released Nubia Red Magic 5G is the world’s first smartphone to offer a display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Nubia’s smartphone offers a 6.65-inch FHD+ display with 2,340 x 1080 pixels of resolution and AMOLED branding. It also features a 240Hz touch sampling rate and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. It is also TUV Rheinland certified for cutting down blue light exposure.
The Nubia Red Magic 5G is also powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset. The handset is paired with up to 16GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The handset comes with a unique internal 15,000RPM fan to keep things cool and improve the gaming experience.
Gizchina News of the week
Just like the Black Shark duo, the Red Magic phone is equipped with two capacitive shoulder buttons that provide haptic feedback and offer a touch sampling rate of 300Hz. The battery side isn’t so spectacular with 4,500mAh battery, but at least it comes with 55W air-cooled turbo fast charge technology. It is one of the best gaming phones in 2020 so far.
iQOO 3
After a succesful debut in 2019, Vivo launched its sub-brand iQOO in a sole adventure as a separate brand. This new adventure resulted in iQOO 3, perhaps one of the most elegant gaming smartphones of 2020. Well, you may enjoy the gaming-focused design of the Nubia and BlackShark smartphones, however, they are bulky and sometimes fancy for overall smartphone experience. iQOO 3 joins the best of both worlds.
The iQOO 3 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel. It has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels with 409 PPI density and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The handset supports HDR10+ and 180HZ touch-sensing. Unfortunately, the refresh rate remains at 60Hz. Making it the less appealing display among gaming smartphones of 2020.
As the other flagships, the iQOO 3 also features Snapdragon 865 SoC. It comes paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR 5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The side features two pressure sensitive areas called “Monster Touch” buttons, thus allowing users to perform multi-finger operations during gameplay and offer better grip and comfort. The smartphone packs a 4,400mAh battery and offers 55W Super FlashCharge Technology.
