Google Duo now lets you make video calls of up to 12 people

Google Duo, the search giant’s free video calling app, introduces a handy improvement. From now on it is possible to make video calls with up to 12 people at the same time.

Until recently, video calling was possible with up to eight people using Google Duo, but that is now changing. Because many people rely more on video calling because of the coronavirus to see colleagues, friends or family, Google now makes it possible to make a video call with up to 12 people. This is ideal when you have a large meeting with colleagues, or simply want to chat with friends.

Gizchina News of the week

Google Duo is one of our preferred video calling services thanks to its ease of use, integration with Google Home devices and the quality of the video calls themselves. The application until recently allowed video calls of up to 8 people, and in the last hours, they have increased the limit to 12.

It’s simple, open the Google Duo app on your phone and swipe up the menu at the bottom. Then you will see the option ‘Create group’ appear, after which you can select up to 11 people from your contact list to make video calls. Finally, tap ‘Start’ to start the video call.

This functionality has been deployed from the Duo servers, so it is not necessary to have the application updated (although it is convenient if it does not appear). If it still does not allow you, you may have to wait a few hours.

In addition to Duo, there are of course many more apps for video calling on your Android smartphone. Think for example of Hangouts and Skype. Also nice is Zoom, an app that is available on almost all platforms.
