Although this year we won’t have an Android 11 big revelation in an event like Google I/O, the company keeps rolling out its usual Developer Preview and is letting the tester to share what are the features arriving this year. Google is adopting a monthly schedule for the rollout of DP firmware. The first Android 11 Developer Preview was announced in February. In March, the company deployed the second update. We’re in the end in April, and the company now is rolling out the Android 11 Developer Preview 3.
The third developer update adds just one major feature that wasn’t present in previous builds. Moreover, it works to improve the existing features that came with the previous builds. Below you can check the major changes brought by this release.
Wireless Debugging

The new Wireless Debugging feature eases the usual ADB process in Android 11. The feature was introduced in DP 2, however, this time it is getting its deserved treatment. Users can pair the smartphone to a PC using a pairing code workflow. According to the search giant, they’ll implement a QR code scanning workflow in Android Studio to allow developers to quickly pair their smartphones.
ADB incremental
This particular feature comes to allow faster installation of large APKs. With this, developers can install a large APK with 2GB+ from a PC to a phone up to 10x faster than before. Developers running DP3 can use the “ADB install – incremental” command in ADB. According to Google, all Android 11 launch devices will support the Incremental File System and hence ADB Incremental. We’re not sure about devices that are coming from Android 10.
Other features include app exit reason updates and GWP-ASan analysis.
Worth noting that this is the final Developer Preview release. In may, users will be contemplated with the first beta release, while the stable Android 11 is expected for Q3 2020.
