Samsung launches at least one new smartwatch every single year under its newer Galaxy Watch lineup. The lineup already consists of numerous offerings such as Galaxy Watch (WiFi, LTE), Watch Active, Galaxy Watch Active 2, and Active 2 LTE. Considering the previous trends, the chaebol has the next iteration due for this year. Last month, the upcoming wearable appeared on CMIIT certification revealing some key specs. Well, the product has now surfaced on yet another certification in China.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 2020: Key Information We Know So Far
The smartwatch has now received the 3C (Compulsory Certification of China). For those who’re unaware, this certification is necessary for the product to get imported and sold in the country. This makes it a very prominent certification. The next offering or Galaxy Watch 2020 (for the sake of convenience) will arrive with SM-R840 and SM-R850 model numbers. It is worth noting that we saw the same model numbers in the previous certification. Apart from these two model numbers, the previous certification also talked about SM-R845 and SM-R855. These two could be the LTE variants of the two different sizes of the next smartwatch.
Gizchina News of the week
Sadly, the new certification hasn’t revealed anything crucial about the product. It just hints towards the launch of the wearable. Considering previous leaks and rumors, the wearable will come with 8GB onboard memory making it a huge improvement over the current offerings. There is a slight improvement in the battery aspect as well with the newer offering coming with 330 mAh cells. For connectivity, we will see 2.4 GHz WiFi, Bluetooth, and of course, 4G LTE using the e-sim. As of now, we don’t know much about the product. In fact, there is no information even on the moniker as well.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 2020 should be a successor to the original Galaxy Watch since the Active lineup already has two offerings. Launching the second iteration makes more sense than just adding yet another Active 3 to the roster.
Launch, Availability
It is worth noting that Samsung hasn’t officially talked about the next iteration of the Galaxy Watch wearable. We’re expecting the next-gen smartwatch to launch alongside the Note 20 lineup. Considering the product has now received 3C certification, we can say that the product is inching closer to the official launch. With that said, we should hopefully hear more information in the coming week.
