With the recent TikTok vs YouTube beef among the creators of both the platform, we saw an immediate desire for an Indian alternative of the popular social networking platform, TikTok. Turns out, one of the developers listened to this demand and decided to cater to the audience. Yes! there is now an Indian alternative of the popular TikTok platform. This one is called Mitron.
For our non-Indian readers, Mitron is a Hindi word that simply means friends. The all-new social media platform is designed by an IIT Roorkee student Shivam Agarwal. Since its official launch on Google Play Store, the app has managed to taste some immense popularity in a short span of time. At the time of writing this, the app has an average rating of 4.7 stars with more than 5 million downloads. In fact, it has even managed to be in the top 3 free apps list.
For those who’re unaware, TikTok currently holds the #1 Top Free tag on Google Play Store. Like TikTok, Mitron is also a free short video sharing platform. The app currently weighs around 8.0MB in size.
Gizchina News of the week
Mitron Video Sharing Platform Rivals TikTok
Even though the app has a rating of 4.7 stars on Play Store, we have seen many users mentioning numerous bugs. That is quite acceptable considering the app has just been launched. With that said, the app is currently available in Play Store. This means that those who are using Apple ecosystem will not be able to taste it as of now. Considering the gaining popularity, we might see an iOS app coming up soon from the developer.
Coming to the requirements, you need to be on at least Android 5.0 Nougat to run this application. One can easily consume the content of the app without signing up for the account. However, you will need to register yourself if you want to upload your short videos. It would be interesting to see how well the app manages to perform in the longer run. Even though the app will be able to gain popularity due to the current anti-China sentiment in the country, the developers need to focus on the user interface, bug-free experience and a lot more to keep the users from switching to some other alternative.
Earlier, due to YouTube vs TikTok controversy, many Indian users decided to uninstall the app and leaving bad reviews on the Play Store. As a result, TikTok app ratings went down to as low as 1.3 stars. Well, the app has now managed to restore its previous ratings as Google removed most of the reviews from the app page.
Probably fake rating like every other indian app.
