OnePlus launched the OnePlus 8 Series in April with support for 30W fast wired charging in addition to introducing 30W wireless charging support for the first time. And now, it looks like it might go all the way to 65W with the OnePlus 8T, suggest a report. A leaked string on the engineering mode app inside the Android 11 Beta gives some hints.
A few days back, OnePlus announced the Android 11 Beta on the first day of its release, for OnePlus 8 series. According to XDADevelopers, a Twitter user was quick enough to spot the keyword inside the Engineering mode. This app is basically installed on every OnePlus device for hardware testing.
Debuting with OnePlus 8T?
The app has a string with the keyword āSuper Wrap Chargerā which is likely a typo. Furthermore, there is also a mention of 65W Fast charge suggesting OnePlus could be testing a prototype with it. Also, this tip goes in line with a OnePlusā 65W Charger recently getting certified by TUV Rheinland certification.
While this app is generally not easily visible to consumers, it won’t stop developers and enthusiasts from looking for details inside it. This makes us wonder OnePlus could introduce this feature in the upcoming OnePlus 8T just like the Warp Charge 30T on the OnePlus 6T Mclaren Edition.
Gizchina News of the week
Regarding the 65W itself, it is not new to us. Oppo, which happens to be the sister of OnePlus introduced this way back. Currently, the 65W Super VOOC 2.0 is the fastest charging solution for mobile devices which employs a 10V@6.5A charging method.Ā
Concerns of Overheating, Battery Deterioration
OnePlus already shares resources and factories with the company and could very well adopt the technology to its devices. However, such faster technology comes with a concern of overheating and battery deterioration in the long run.Ā
But, Oppo employed a solution of using a dual-cell battery technology which is currently present on the Oppo Find X2 Pro. OnePlus could very well use the method to overcome heating issues in addition to the cooling system inside the phone.
New Colors for the OnePlus 8
Additionally, the app also had a keyword āIce Blueā along with other colours which are already available. This suggests that OnePlus 8 series could get a new colour variant in the future albeit we are not sure which model will get it.
Nevertheless, OnePlus is generally known to include significant upgrades on the T models and 65W is indeed a substantial upgrade. Letās wait for more info as we inch ahead.
