PC enthusiasts, and more specifically, AMD enthusiasts have big reasons to rejoice this week! AMD has officially revealed three new models in its Ryzen 3000XT series of desktop CPUs. The new processors will go on sale as soon as the next month. Each one of them is based on the same 7nm Zen 2 architecture as the rest of the series. The new XT models come to offer a modest performance at a low cost, they’re coming with the same launch prices as their X counterparts.
Three new Ryzen models compose the Ryzen 3000XT series – Ryzen 3600XT, 3800XT, and 3900XT.
Each is a slightly higher clocked version of the 3600X, 3800X and the 3900X, respectively. The 3600XT and 3900XT offer a 100MHz boost frequency while the 3800XT will offer a gain of 200MHz and a base frequency equal to the X variant. At least on paper, users should not expect any other changes.
As you can see, the new CPUs don’t bring really impressive changes. The new chipsets are just the result of a binning process or better yields as the manufacturing process is more mature right now. In the same vein, these parts are a bit more efficient than their predecessors and possibly support higher overclocking frequency. However, it’s soon to make conclusions about this fact.
Gizchina News of the week
AMD also made a special note regarding the cooling of these new chips. According to the company, the 3600XT comes with the Wraith Spire cooler. However, the 3800XT and the 3900XT do not come with a cooler in the box. That’s a big surprise since their X counterparts come with Coolers. According to AMD, these parts have been designed specifically for enthusiasts who tend to use aftermarket cooling solutions. I don’t know what you guy things, but this seems like a saving money measure. According to the company, users need to use a 280mm AIO cooler to experience these products at their best.
We believe that AMD is suggesting such cooling solutions to ensure that you can experience the extra performance offered by the CPUs. If you use a regular cooling solution, then you probably won’t see the extra 100MHz gain in the new CPUs. The new XT models are being offered at the same price as what the X models did when they launched last year. The X variants, meanwhile, should get a price cut in the coming weeks.
The Company also announced B550 motherboards
In addition to the launch of new CPUs, AMD started the sales of its B550 based motherboards. The company also revealed its upcoming A520 chipset. It will succeed the A320 line offering an affordable, but rather basic entry point into the Ryzen series. Both B550 and A520 will support 3000 series and above. According to the company, the A520 motherboards will be available in ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, GIGABYTE, and MSI.
