The owner of Realme XT claimed that the device was charging with the official bundled adapter. Furthermore, we also shared the images of the burnt smartphone in our story. Well, we now have the official explanation from the brand itself. In the explanation, Realme reveals why the device burst into flames in the first place.

Realme XT Explodes While Charging! Here’s what the company told us

Realme XT

Realme recently shared with us the insight of the case analysis explaining how the device exploded while charging. As per the brand’s analysis, Realme XT was “broken due to a very heavy force that was applied by an external object causing the battery deformation”. Furthermore, the company also claimed that even though the “battery is deformed, there is no burnt mark on the device assembly where the battery gets fixed”. Realme also claimed that the deformation on the battery is clearly visible. Lastly, the analysis claims that the device burst to flames due to external damage.

Gizchina News of the week

Realme, in an official statement to GizChina, said the following:

“As per our investigation, we have learnt that the smartphone was damaged due to external force. The user’s smartphone battery caught fire as the smartphone was punctured from outside”

In the previous statement to 91Mobiles, the smartphone maker also assured that each device goes through stringent quality and durability checks. The statement further ensured that customer safety is of the utmost importance to the company. To recall, we saw the report of Realme 5 burning into flames back in March 2020. During the previous burning incident, we saw a similar statement from the company mentioning puncture and deformity.

Smartphone OEMs and Explosion!

As mentioned in our previous story, this is not the first time we have seen a smartphone exploding incident. In fact, smartphone makers frequently deal with the smartphone explosion incident. With that said, Realme is not the only company that has caught itself in the burning devices incident. Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi and even JioPhone has been a part of similar controversy before. Even though the company claims it is the user’s fault, Realme XT users might be extra vigilant at least for the time being.
