Poco is gearing up for the launch of yet another budget smartphone dubbed the Poco M2 Pro on July 7th. The company’s GM, C. Manmohan in a recent interview revealed some interesting stuff regarding the low-end mid-ranger. The smartphone which will be exclusive to the Indian market will be priced below the Poco X2.
Poco M2 Pro will slot in below the X2
Poco’s GM, C. Manmohan recently had an interaction with an Indian tipster on his YouTube channel. When asked about exclusive details of the upcoming Poco M2 Pro, Manmohan said that the device will be priced below the launch price of the Poco X2.
If we recall, Poco X2 launched in India back in February with a starting price tag of Rs.15,999. Hence, going by Manmohan’s hint, we can be sure that the upcoming Poco M2 Pro will be priced below Rs. 15,999.

What else Poco has in store for us?
The interview also had a few titbits for the Poco fans. Manmohan said that there were no plans of additional colour variants for the upcoming X2. The brand will be focusing on the M2 pro going forward. However, exclusive covers for Poco X2 are coming soon.
Regarding 5G smartphones, he said the manufacturing costs will make the price of the phones which when coupled with less use case in a country like India, will be of no use. Looks like a 5G phone from Poco is far away in the future.
As for future plans, Manmohan said that a dedicated community for Poco is in the works and the company will focus on one smart product at a time starting with TWS earbuds this year.
Poco M2 Pro: Specifications
As far as we know, the Poco M2 Pro will be an Indian version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro that launched in European markets. To affirm our guesses, the alleged model number M2003J6CI of the device had passed the WiFi alliance certification, hinting a similarity to the Redmi Note 9 series.
Based on similarities with European variant, we can expect a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD display with a centred punch-hole at the front. On the back, a 64MP sensor could lead the way for a quad-camera setup however, we are not sure about this yet.
It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G SoC paired with 6GB RAM and 64/128G storage. The company has already confirmed the device will support fast charging up to 33W. Let’s wait for official info as we get closer to July 7th.
