Back in 2017, Google released the Pixel 2 series with Android 8 (Oreo) out-of-the-box. This series already have the Android 9 (Pie) and Android 10 updates. Now, there are reports that Android 11 will be the last major update for these smartphones. According to reports from the developers on the Android open source project, Android 11 will be the last major system update of Google Pixel 2. In this regard, the developers made it clear that they are “abandoning support for Pixel 2.”
In this case, users of Pixel 2/2 XL should expect a similar experience as the original Pixel and Pixel XL. After the launch of Android 11, there will be only one or two final security updates, After these updates which will come before the end of the year, they won’t be receiving any other.
At the release of the Android 11 beta, Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are among the devices to get this update. Furthermore, Pixel 2 series users will receive it when the stable Android 11 update arrives later this year. Unlike the first Pixel series, Pixel 2 and later products will get three major updates. This means that with the release of Android 11 later this year, Google’s promise will be fulfilled.
The Google Pixel 2 series includes the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. These devices are pretty old and here is a reminder of what these devices offer.
