Smartwatches have become a new battlefield for many smartphone brands. Now, VIVO has entered the game. Today, VIVO officially launched its first VIVO WATCH. The whole series adopts a stainless steel watch body, a bezel of precision ceramics, an exquisite design, and a wealth of sports and health monitoring functions. The price is 1,299 yuan ($192). It will go on sale on September 28.
Design and Screen
The VIVO WATCH uses a classic round shape instead of a square shape. This design fits the traditional fashion style and is more beautiful.
In terms of screen, the VIVO WATCH is available in 46mm and 42mm versions. The former has a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a 454×454 resolution, and the latter has a 1.19-inch AMOLED screen with a 390×390 resolution. Both have 326PPI retina screen standards.
The whole series of VIVO WATCH uses a stainless steel body. The 361 stainless steel material is stronger and more durable than the common aluminum alloy. It also has better corrosion resistance and is comfortable to wear.
Regarding the bezel, the VIVO WATCH uses precision ceramics. Its hardness is 4 times that of stainless steel. This material is also scratch resistance and has more advanced texture.
The VIVO WATCH has 46mm and 42mm bezel designs that are very different. The former uses a laser centripetal drawing process to laser-engrave fine textures on the ceramic, while the 42mm version uses a polished design, which is relatively mild.
It is worth mentioning that the 42mm VIVO WATCH has a brown color variant.
As for the optical sensor area at the bottom, the VIVO WATCH uses a 3D curved glass design. This reduces the contact area between the bottom case and the skin, ensuring that the sensor can accurately operate and it is comfortable to wear.

Straps
In terms of straps, there are two options for the VIVO WATCH – Nappa leather straps and Fluoroelastomer straps. The former can be considered as a premium class. The latter is rich in colors and is corrosion-resistant.
Functions
In addition to fashion attributes, the VIVO WATCH has also made great efforts in technological attributes. There are 6 types of sensors alone, covering blood oxygen, acceleration, air pressure, geomagnetism, ambient light, and positioning. Among them, the positioning system supports four major global systems, including domestic Beidou.
The VIVO WATCH also supports a 50-meter waterproof design, and functions such as AOD screen display.
As for sports monitoring, in addition to monitoring daily calories and steps, the VIVO WATCH also has professional sports modes. It supports 11 kinds of sports monitoring, including outdoor running, swimming, cycling, mountaineering, and so on.
Apart from this, the VIVO WATCH also provides professional data analysis. They cooperate with FIRSTBEAT, an authoritative European sports research organization, to provide users with professional data analysis and suggestions after exercise.
In terms of health monitoring, the VIVO WATCH provides sleep monitoring, pressure monitoring, heart rate monitoring, and the recently popular blood oxygen saturation monitoring. Thus, it is focusing on monitoring the health of the elderly, sports enthusiasts, and mental workers.
Other Functions
In terms of other functions, the VIVO WATCH supports music playback, NFC, access control card and JOVI voice assistant. You can use the watch to control the phone to achieve functions such as taking pictures, message notifications, and finding the phone.
Battery Life
In terms of battery life, the VIVO WATCH was designed with long battery life as the goal. The 46mm version has a battery life of up to 18 days, and the 42mm version has a battery life of 9 days.
