Nokia 7 Plus starts receiving September 2020 security patch!

Nokia 7 Plus

HMD Global’s Nokia is one of the few smartphone brands that has been focussing on software updates since day one. No matter the price bracket, the smartphone maker rolls out new updates to its devices from time to time. In fact, the company is still pushing maintenance updates to its 2018 device called Nokia 7 Plus. Earlier today, Nokia started seeding the new update that brings new security patch and fixes numerous bugs along the way.

The new firmware update carries the model number 00WW_4_16B.  Apart from fixing bugs, the update also brings the September 1, 2020, dated Android security patch. As expected, the device still runs on the Android 10 operating system. To recall, the device was originally launched with Android Oreo out-of-the-box. Since then, it has been updated continuously thanks to the Android One program.

Nokia 7 Plus might not receive Android 11

At the time of writing this, there is no information on whether the device will receive Android 11 in near future. Considering the device has already received the two major upgrades, the chances for the third becomes quite bleak. In fact, the company’s recent tweet talks about Android 11 and two-year OS upgrade promise. It is also worth mentioning that Nokia 7 Plus has now received around 40 software updates as of September 2. Of course, these figures include patches, bugs fixes, and major updates as well.

Gizchina News of the week

Since the respawn of the Nokia brand, HMD Global has focussed on software updates and lived up to its promise. While now more companies are now jumping in offering the latest software, it is safe to say Nokia was a few of the ones when no one else was focussing on updates.

More Nokia devices incoming!

Apart from taking care of software upgrades, HMD Global seems to work on a bunch of new devices for its consumers. Lately, the smartphone maker launched Nokia 2.4 and 3.4 smartphones along with the Nokia 8.3 5G. A couple of days ago, we saw hi-res render images of the upcoming Nokia 7.3 device. As expected, the device arrives with a punch-hole cutout located on the left with curved back edges and a circular camera module right above the fingerprint sensor. Earlier this week, we also saw a new unknown Nokia phone with model number TA-1354 on Thailand’s NBTC certification.
