OnePlus 8T Live Wallpaper is usable any Android smartphone

The Chinese press conference for the OnePlus 8T launch will take place on October 15th. Presently, OnePlus 8T has commenced appointments on some e-commerce platforms. XDA developer @linuxct extracted the Live Wallpaper App of OnePlus 8T. After testing, he found that the App can run on almost all Android 8.0+ phones. However, it appears that the wallpapers only work properly on flagship and mid-range Snapdragon devices.

The OnePlus 8T will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC. On the rear, it will have a 48MP + MP + 5MP + 2MP quad camera setup. This smartphone will also use a 2.5D flexible straight screen that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 8192 levels of brightness adjustment. This display has DisplayMate A+ certification and its JNCD average is 0.3. It further uses a 4500 mAh battery that supports a 65W super flash charge. According to the company, it can charge 70% in 20 minutes and is also equipped with a dual Type- C data cable, compatible with 45W PD fast charge.

The OnePlus 8T press conference will be held at 2:00 pm on the 15th in Beijing. The slogan for this conference is “to make eyesight and have power”. In addition, OnePlus 8T will officially arrive outside China on October 14.

Gizchina News of the week

In addition to the Snapdragon 865 flagship processor, this device uses up to 12GB of RAM. This device will also arrive with Google’s latest Android 11 out-of-the-box. It will be the industry’s first pre-installed Android 11 Chinese flagship smartphone. It is worth noting that the thin and light body is another highlight of OnePlus 8T. Its bodyweight is only 188g and its thickness is 8.4mm. OnePlus founder and CEO, Liu Zuohu, said that this device should be one of the few thin and light flagships in the market this year. According to OnePlus, with every new flagship, it reduces the weight of the phone.

OnePlus 8T will use a pretty old camera sensor

It appears that the manufacturer does not intend to create competition with the main flagship of the year. This could be why this recent smartphone will receive an outdated IMX586 camera sensor.

This sensor was introduced back in 2018 and is found both in budget devices (like the Honor Play 4T) and in previous OnePlus flagships: 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro, 8, and even Nord. The top-end IMX689 sensor will remain only on the OnePlus 8 Pro, while there is no information on the OnePlus 8T Pro camera yet.

At the moment, we do not know how OnePlus plans to explain such a decision. This situation is similar to Google’s approach, whose Pixel line uses the same 12-megapixel IMX363 sensor from year to year. However, it does this because of its unique combination of quality and affordability.
