The Asus ZenFone 7 has failed miserably in the rear camera test

The Asus ZenFone 7 has a rotating camera and was recently named one of the best mobile devices for selfie lovers. In the corresponding DxOMark ranking, it took second place, behind only the Huawei P40 Pro.

The Asus ZenFone 7 has failed miserably in the rear camera test

Now DxOMark has published the results of the rear camera of Asus ZenFone 7, which will surely upset fans. The fact is that this smartphone has a single camera for main shooting and for taking selfies, which rotates 180 degrees. And if as a front camera it copes with its task perfectly against the background of competitors, then when compared with the flagship cameras of other smartphones it cannot surprise with anything.

For the quality of the photo in the test of the rear camera, the Asus ZenFone 7 smartphone received 122 points, for the video quality – 100 points. The overall result was 115 points, which did not allow the smartphone to even get into the top twenty. It scored less than last year’s Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10, Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max and many other smartphones.

At the bottom, the reviewers repeat the obvious. Choosing the Asus ZenFone 7 today is for those who often take selfies and record video on the front camera.

The Asus ZenFone 7 Pro offers real benefits over its predecessor, but lands in our database closer to the better phones from last year than to this year’s leading contenders. Overall image quality is satisfying and the ZenFone has no trouble producing good-looking photos under most conditions. But the competition at the top is fierce: missteps in the handling of high dynamic range scenes, significant artifacts, and a problematic bokeh mode drag the score down compared to the top performers. Zoom performance is much improved thanks to the new telephoto camera, but its image quality is not up to what we see from the best available today, especially at longer zoom ratios.
