Xiaomi are the darlings of China’s tech and mobile industry. Customers are calling out for them to go global and it appears they are listening!
Chinese Android phones are in a league of their own. The speed of development, the ideas and most of all the prices are all driving sales through the roof. However the main issue for many a fan is that Chinese phone makers create their products for the local market and have no desire to release their wares elsewhere.
Xiaomi could be different! The Beijing based phone start-up have already done what no other Chinese phone maker has done, design and manufacture high-end products at low prices and even put some hurt on the larger names, and now it looks like they are almost ready to spread their wings and head for pastures new.

Xiaomi have already launched their phones in Hong Kong and Taiwan, but according to Tech in Asia, Xiaomi could be looking to launch online sales of their products in North America!
If this is true Xiaomi will be able to offer a range of Android smartphones, a tablet, Android TV box, Smart TV and even possibly a Xiaomi laptop by the time they arrive in America!
Any hopes for a India entry?? 🙂
Thank god, now we’ll see an increase of the prices, as soon as Meizu became famous they raised the prices, same thing will happen with Xiaomi, we’ll prices like 500€ for the next Mi3 now

Just a few phone tweaks to fully support the American frequencies and they’ll have a big screen competitor for the Nexus 4. Add in LTE and they’ll force down prices of the Korean phones. It’ll take a few years though. Lower off contract prices are definitely needed as the subsidy practices dry up a la T-mobile. $600 for an off contract phone is currently just way too high in comparison to other gadgetry. Tablets and laptops aren’t that much and they’ve got a much better bill of component materials.
Be happy everything is so damm cheap over there..

ahh, i was feeling special being able to purchase xiaomi product since i live in beijing. guess when i’ll go back to canada i will be able to find xiaomi products, but with canadian prices. i hope they keep their good product with low prices, its a winnign strategy. i keep seeing more xiaomi phones on the subway.
i’m waiting here in indonesia! why not sell it here?????? or at least why not accept order from indonesia? xiaomi sell their products in hongkong, hongkong is near indonesia but strangely xiaomi DO NOT SHIP to indonesia…..why why why why?????? =:(

their price is their “ace player”, the globall price is off course not the same as chinese price, but keep it a reasonable and tempting…

what about the after sales service??? they only sell online….dont tell me american customer will have to send it to china to repair their xiaomi products…..any clue?
If they dont release the kernel source code for their phones, they don’t stand a chance. GPL violations won’t be tolerated if they want to enter the US market. FFS, even Oppo opened the kernel for the Find 5.
