Apple has reduced the battery capacity of all models of the iPhone 12 series. Although, judging by the official information, the battery life of the iPhone 12 is not inferior to the iPhone 11, some tests suggest otherwise. Moreover, when it comes to 3D games, the situation is terrible.
iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro run out of battery in 3 hours playing games
In 3D games, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro run only 3 hours 1 minute, while the iPhone 11 Pro lasts 6 hours 38 minutes, the iPhone 11 – 7 hours 37 minutes, and even the iPhone SE 2 can play 3D games for almost 5 hours.
If you look at the flagships from the Android world, the gap is even more impressive. For example, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro can work 10 hours when playing 3D games. The source adds that the list of games tested included Call of Duty: Mobile and Minecraft.
In the browser runtime test, the situation is much better: the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro showed excellent results, slightly behind only the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.
When playing YouTube videos, the results of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are comparable to those of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
Gizchina News of the week
Here is the amount of RAM and battery capacity of the iPhone 12 series
This is the battery capacity for the 2020 iPhone flagships:
- iPhone 12 mini – 2227 mAh
- iPhone 12 – 2851 mAh
- iPhone-12 Pro – 2815 mAh
- iPhone 12 Pro Max – 3687 mAh
In the case of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max, we are dealing with a downgrade. For comparison, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max had 3,110mAh and 3,969mAh batteries, respectively. It seems that in terms of autonomy, Apple made a bet on the energy efficiency of the 5nm A14 Bionic chip.
If we talk about the amount of RAM, then the alignment of forces is as follows:
- iPhone 12 mini – 4 GB
- iPhone 12 — 4 GB
- iPhone-12 Pro — 6 GB
- iPhone 12 Pro Max — 6 GB.
It turns out that the two younger iPhone 12 models received the same amount of RAM as the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. But the older models have increased the amount of RAM to 6 GB. And let’s be objective that that much RAM is enough for the vast majority of tasks.
Wow, that's terrible 😑
