Apple M1 Mac users report Bluetooth connection problems

Apple recently released the Apple Mac miniMacBook Air, and MacBook Pro that uses the new M1 chip as well as the macOS Big Sur. According to recent reports, some users of the new M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini are facing Bluetooth connection problems. For the Mac mini, this situation is particularly annoying. YouTuber, Patrick Tomasso, pointed out that the problems include frequent disconnection from peripherals or even complete failure.

In a tweet, Tomasso outlined the connection problem of his M1 Mac mini but he is not alone. Other users are also experiencing similar issues. His tweet reads

“I’m going crazy trying to figure out the [B]luetooth issues with this machine. I thought maybe a few of us had an isolated issue but forums/Reddit are popping up now all over,”

On Reddit, some M1 Mac users complained that first-party and third-party peripherals, including mice, keyboards, and headsets, suffer intermittent disconnections.

The problem seems to be with either Apple’s hardware or the macOS Big Sur. This is because users can successfully connect to Logitech accessories using the company’s Unifying Receiver Bluetooth dongle. A Redditor contacted Apple to replace his Mac mini, but the alternative had the same problem.

This is not the first time that Apple devices have Bluetooth problems. For example, in 2014, users complained about the slow performance of Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, Apple wireless keyboard, and third-party wireless accessories after updating to the then OS X Yosemite.

It is not clear how many M1 MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini devices are affected, and Apple has not yet confirmed this issue.

Apple HomePod mini has WiFi connectivity issues

The Apple HomePod mini cost about $99 but some early buyers have serious complaints regarding this device. Most of these users have issues with connecting their HomePod mini to the internet. As of now, it appears that this issue only exists with the HomePod mini. Some users believe that this is what you get when an Apple device is cheap.

Apple’s solution for this issue is to “reboot the device”. However, this solution has proven to be ineffectual. According to reports, if you factory reset the device as well as your router, you may have a short term solution. Reports have it that it only lasts a day.
