Office documents

Recently, MyTechDecisions reported that now you can view Office documents for free on iOS devices. But to edit documents on the iOS version of Office, you need to log in to your Microsoft account and subscribe to Office 365 to get more.

As for now, Google has stepped in a solution for companies using Google Workspace.

Google Software Suite now supports editing of Office documents with the following extensions: .doc, .docx, .dot, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .xlt, Excel files that support macros, .ppt, .pptx , .pps and .pot.

Moreover, the iPad users can use this function as well. So besides the iPhone and MacBook, the iPad supports it as well. Moreover, it also supports collaborative functions such as comments.

In this regard, Google said in a blog: ‘Office editing will replace Quickoffice (sometimes known as Office Compatibility Mode), which has more limited functionality and collaboration capabilities.’

Google Rebranded G Suite

Interestingly, back in October, we learned that Google is rebranding its G Suite group of productivity apps like Gmail, Meet, Docs, Sheets and more. With this, the Alphabet company brought a new user experience and new solutions. All these have been done to look better when competing with Microsoft.

Much earlier, in July, Google announced a deeper integration of its core tools into a single unified experience. But for G Suite, Google has been always focusing on business users. So with this integration, it made it easier for connecting with customers and partners via guest features in Chat and Drive.
