Nokia 8.1 owners can now install Android 11 update

Nokia 8.1

HMD Global announced its Android 11 roadmap for Nokia phones back in October, but none of the devices have received the update yet. Now a video has appeared on the web in which we can see the Nokia 8.1 (Nokia X7) smartphone, which runs on Android 11.

The video was posted on YouTube by a senior member of the XDA Developers forum under the nickname hikari_calyx. He not only showed the new version of Android on a 2018 device, but also provided instructions on how users can install the closed beta.

The update contains the latest December Android security patch. Presumably, the update will be released for this smartphone at the very end of the year, if there are no difficulties during testing.

The device is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC and a 6.18-inch Full HD+ display with high dynamic range support. The main camera is dual, it has 13 and 12-megapixel sensors, the front camera is 20 megapixel. The smartphone supports fast charging and is equipped with a 3500 mAh battery.

Like other Nokia smartphones, Nokia 8.1 is part of the Android One program. Initially, Nokia 8.1 ran on Android 9.0 Pie operating system.
