Since the official announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, there have been a series of speculations regarding the OnePlus 9 series. At the SD888 launch event, OnePlus officially announced that it will use this flagship chip. The OnePlus 9 series should have at least two phones – OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. However, there are also reports of a possible mid-range (or entry-level) OnePlus 9E. The latest information on the OnePlus 9 is a series of hands-on images from Phonearena.
According to the report, the images are from a pre-production unit of the OnePlus 9 5G. However, there are some details that do not fit previous reports. For starters, the model number of this device is LE2117 which doesn’t feel like anything from OnePlus. In addition, the logo on the rear is weird…it most certainly isn’t OnePlus’s.

From what we can see, the images show a device with a rear silver panel. Just like we already know, it uses two large sensors and one small sensor on the rear. There is an LED flash beside the camera with “Ultrashot” written beneath it. Well, if this really is the OnePlus 9 5G, it will have to explain what the “Ultrashot” means. On the front of this device, we can see that it uses a punch-hole display. The punch-hole is on the top-left of the display. The images also show the presence of microphones on the top and bottom of this phone. Furthermore, we can see the SIM card tray, Type-C port, and bottom speaker as well as a boot logo.
OnePlus 9 alleged specs sheet
In addition to the phone’s images, there are accompanying screenshots that allegedly shows the specs of this device. The report claims that this device will use a 6.55-inch FHD+ flat display. This screen will use a resolution of 2400×1080, 20:9 aspect ratio, HDR, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The positions of the ports and buttons are consistent with OnePlus’s devices. However, if this report is real, then the OnePlus 9 5G will come with a metal (Aluminum) frame.
Regarding the camera, the screenshot also has some information for us. On the rear, we can see a 12MP f/1.88 camera. However, upfront, the screenshot shows a 4MP f/2.4 camera. This is most unlikely for a 2021 flagship. In fact, an entry-level OnePlus device will not use a 4MP front camera. It could also be a 4-in-1 4MP camera which takes the total rating to 16MP. The camera supports Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) but not Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
