SPEmall offering Xiaomi Mi2S Discount to GizChina readers

Yesterday we reported that the Xiaomi Mi2S has had its price slashed here in China, now reseller SPEmall are offering a similar price cut for GizChina readers!

If you read GizChina on a regular basis you will already know that our very own Andi Sykes owns a Xiaomi phone and never stops raving about it, but his is the original 1.5Ghz S4 version. The Xiaomi Mi2S is the latest version of the top of the range Chinese phone and features a faster 1.7Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset along with 2GB RAM, 4.3-inch 720p display, 16GB memory and fantastic 8 mega-pixel rear camera.

There is a problem with Xiaomi phones though, that prices outside of China are quite expensive, but the guys over at SPEmall are passing on some of the recent price drop to GizChina readers with this discount coupon code!

There are 3 packages to choose each with its own discount code and saving.

Hi All, a question to all Mi2 users out there…I’m a bit skeptical with the lack of SD card expansion.
Would OTG make up for it? – e.g. would a USB flash drive work for reading data in real-time and without some sort of compromise in speeds (USB vs. SD card class 10).
Also, is there a point going for one of the offers with OTG cable inclusive? – e.g. given the package includes universal cable, would that do the job with Xiaomi or it has to be aan official Xiaomi cable. Thanks in advance!

I have the 16GB version and only really wish for more space if I load movies on to it (I rarely do as I use a tablet for movies when traveling). I’ve also set up my gallery to automatically upload photos to my Dropbox and sync with iPhoto on my Mac. This means I can delete photos while out and about and not worry about loosing them. I honestly never use OTG, but if you want to carry a wire and USB with you then it will certainly help expanding your memory options.

I really love Xiaomi and been wanting to get one for a long time but I am still waiting for a version that will have either 64Gb storage or SD card slot and NFC.
Mi2-A was almost perfect because of bigger screen and NFC but lacked in storage and processor cores.
Perfect Mi3 would be 4.7 inch 720p (1080p doesn’t make it that much better but drains the battery) with 32 Gb storage and SD slot, 3 Gb RAM and NFC.
I really love their classic design on the Mi2 and Mi2-S/A, it will be hard to make the Mi3 better looking.
Hongmi is nice but I think the classic design still look better. For that price I would have bought one if it had functional 3G in Europe even without NFC.
