When it comes to camera technology, Japanese manufacturer, Sony is doing quite well. Earlier today at CES, the company showcased its new Spatial Reality Display technology. According to the company, this is “unique eye-sensing technology” can present 3D images in a stereoscopic manner. In addition, it claims that it is much easier and convenient for designers to use for creating images. According to the description, this device still uses a traditional LCD screen with an optical lens above it to refract light and produce a 3D effect.
The display adopts a triangular three-dimensional design. This is because it needs enough distance to provide space for the lens and make work easier for designers. However, we can see that the device comes with a hollow design. The company did not give any explanation for this design.
This device can sense the three-dimensional data of the human face and track facial expressions at the same time. It achieves this using the camera above the display. This feature will provide a real-time motion capture function that maps facial expressions to 3D characters. It also facilitates animation creation and real-time inspection effects.
Gizchina News of the week
This is a device for professionals and it was first announced in October 2020. According to Sony’s official website, the price of this device is up to $ 4999.99. This product is recommended to be used with the Core i7-9700K + RTX 2070 Super or above for a smooth experience.
Spatial Reality Display – makes digital content creation easier
Sony’s website says that this device stimulates the imaginations of creators in various disciplines. The Spatial Reality Display is a radical new expression of 3D and a new medium for artistic innovation. Sony’s proprietary high-speed sensor follows eye movement down to the millisecond. It senses pupil position through space on all three axes: vertical, horizontal, and even depth.
The Spatial Reality Display leverages an original algorithm for processing real-time content for each eye without lag. This allows the 3D world to appear as smooth as in real life, even if you move around. The micro-optical lens is positioned precisely over the stunning 15.6-inches (diag.) LCD display. This lens divides the image into the left and right eyes allowing for stereoscopic viewing with just the naked eye.
This device is compatible with Unity and Unreal Engine 4. The Spatial Reality Display allows for easy exporting of new or existing 3D content using Sony’s Software Development Kit (SDK). Sony’s dedicated SDK makes it easy for 3D creators to develop content for the Spatial Reality Display using Unity and Unreal Engine 4.
