Gizchina News of the week
Apple MacBook Air 2021 will be thinner, lighter, and will have slim bezels, coming in the second half of 2021
As per the report, the new MacBook Air 2021 will come with a thinner and lighter chassis. So it’s will be easier and practical to hold and transport. Moreover, Apple is revamping the display reducing the footprint of the bezels. So, the MacBook Air series will finally enter the trend of bezel-less displays. The report also suggests the comeback of the MagSafe charging system. In fact, it will carry a more distinctive design making it stand out from the MacBook Pros. The company will also bring an upgraded version of its Apple M1 chip. The new generation of Apple’s ARM-based chip should still be based on 5nm, or possibly on a 5nm+ standard. The company reportedly ordered the first 3nm chips from TSMC, but they won’t be ready until 2022-2023.
Bloomberg also states that the new MacBook Air will be positioned as a more premium alternative to the current MacBook Air instead of a direct successor. If that is the case, the company may also prepare an affordable variant that will succeed the current model for a late release. When it comes to the new MacBook Air 2021, Apple is planning an H2 2021 release for it. Although this can change to early 2021 if something goes wrong midway.
The device should still pack a 13-inch display. The weight should be greatly reduced in comparison to the 2.8 pounds of the current model. Apple considered a 15-inch model, but this will not come in this generation of MacBook Air. There’s still a long way before the release, so we expect more details to surface soon.
