Until a few months ago when we talked about phablet we referred to that “big phone” with big size screen, larger than usual phone. The word phablet comes from a combination of “phone” and “tablet”, to indicate the rough line when one becomes the other, not small enough to be considered a phone and to feature packed to be a tablet.
Initially it was only Samsung with the Galaxy note who catered for those wanting a larger display, but as time has gone by other manufacturers have jumped on the phablet bandwagon also. Most notably it is Chinese manufactures who have really pushed the big screen market and now many of these low-cost options rival those of the likes of Samsung and Sony!
As phone sizes keep growing, the average for most flagship models being 5-inch, phablets have had to get larger to differentiate themselves. The current line up of phablets measure from 6-inch to 6.5, and we have listed the best money can buy in the the tables below!
Top 7 Full HD Phablets
The specifications of these 7 top phablets are very similar, sometimes mating, as in case of OrientPhone Mega and Firefly v65.
Gizchina News of the week
Goophone, however, with its s4 mega, confirmed its leadership in emulation of most famous brands products (in this case Samsung). What is striking is that on paper, looking at specifications, the Goophone s4 mega seem better than Samsung phablet. The Goophone s4 mega is equipped with a quad-core processor MT6589T (1.5Ghz) and with a 1080p FULLHD Display, while Samsung Galaxy Mega is equipped with a dual-core processor and an HD display 720p.
[komper pid=96,98 compareform=no]The other 2 tablet, which lists the specifications below, are Carpad T65 and new Ulefone u650.
For completeness I have also added the daddy of phablts! the Sony Xperia Z Ultra! The most expensive handset here.
[komper pid=100 compareform=no]Do you think that 6.5 inch limit will be reached? Rumors already talking about 6.7 inch phablet… What do you think about?
Moreover, among the 7 phablets proposed in this post, wich do you preferr and would buy comparing specifications and price?

How does the Turbo Mediatek quad core compare with the Exynos dual-core?
How about the Ascend Mate from Huawei?
The image depicted for the Ulefone U650 appears to be wrong. It should look like this > http://img10.mcbub.com/make_pic/2013-07-15/201307150162621zrtbnpi7.jpg
One detail not mentioned is which among these aren’t OGS screen.
Readers may also be interested to learn more of the quality of build for each of these phones.
I would add the iNew i6000 to this list. These are all basically the same phone.
I also think that Orient Phone Mega and Firefly V65 are the same phone, but with different brands. They have absoultely identical specifications.
Nice post: i like this kind of comparison charts.
Personally, i would choose the GooPhone Mega.
Although i don’t like the “physical” Home button on every model depicted.
Obviously, there’s no S4 Mega on shop_goophone_hk 🙁 where is it possible to grab it, i mean, from international on-line shops?
At last, and maybe off-topic, they all show “WCDMA 850 / 2100”, which is not good for many european countries (850). Does anybody know whether it’s possible to un-set “850” and set “900”-band on these chinese phones, or not? I’ve heard about using the Engineer Mode to do that, but it’s not very clear… Any “radio’-geek around? 🙂
I agree, in Sweden we have 900MHz and 2100MHz as 3G and I would be very interested in getting a phone with those bands.
the vivo xplay is not in top 7?
That’s an amazing phone 🙂
This is a list of large FHD phones sized between 6 to 6.5 inches.
Xplay is only 5.7 inch.
Which of them uses Gorilla Glass? And have any of them OTG or MHL?
No one have gorilla glass, its a shame (the Xperia doesnt count).
I want a chinese phablet 720p, with gorilla, and I search a lot, and doesnt see anyone (Ascend mate, and Vivo Xplay doesnt count, too much expensive). I dont know why those manufacturers who do phablets dont include protecion on the screen…
I’m searching for the same, but no luck. There really isn’t a single (affordable) phablet with either asahi or gorilla glass out there. I’m starting to look at 5 inch phones now.. Like the Umi X2 which seems to be the only 5″ phone around the 200 euro price mark with gorilla glass.
These have Gorilla glass
* HDC Galaxy S4 5′
* Goophone i9 5.7′
* Jiayu G4 4.7′
Are you sure the Goophone i9 has gorilla glass? May I ask for your source? So far i’ve only found one shop which claims it has gorilla glass, none of the others show this in the specifications.
Boddom, thanks a lot… I thought so too 🙁
What ever, Actwell i6000 phone – looks great, but I think it’s a fake-phone.
So if I’d like to get a good one phone so I should get Jiayu G4, Zopo C2, Xiaomi, Meizu and so on.
Who knows, UMI x2 or Neo N003 are good phones? or Jiayu G4, Zopo C2 are better?
I think the phone must have good battery, 2G Ram, 32G Rom, Dual-sim and memory-card slot. Ofcourse it would be nice if it has Gorilla Glass OGS display and OTG and MHL functions, so which phone will do?
The Neo N003 is still scarce in china, let alone internationally, so you won’t find many (if any) reviews. The thoughts on the Umi X2 are mixed; poorer build quality but well working hardware. A friend of mine recently bought the Jiayu G4 (with the MTK6589) and is very happy about it. It is also said that Jiayu has the best build quality (definitely better than the Umi X2). I haven’t heard much from the Zopo C2, but the things i have heard weren’t very impressive. As for OTG and MHL I think the Jiayu and the Neo are popular for having this.

Huawei ascend mate not on the list?? 6.1 inch ips+ display with a monster 4000mah battery
If not mistaken, Ascend mate isn’t full HD. This excludes it from this list.

Are these phablets Gg/4G the same as smartphones or are they wi fi?

Imho this is what it takes to get market share:
#1. LTE connectivity
#2. LG build quality
#3. Stock Android
#4. No Chinese spyware
#5. No OEM bloatware
I think people will be breaking down doors to get these phones. I know I would.

Gorilla glass is joke. I have it my phone is in a cover and it’s got scratches everywhere. Most people I know who have gorilla glass use a plastic screen cover and tell me I’m stupid I didn’t put one one. More than half the people Iknow with galaxy s3 have cracked screens. I llove my note but my be going the China way soon.
