POCO X3 Pro to go official in the second week of March

POCO X3 Pro

POCO returned to the market last year, but this return was quite controversial with the company’s first launches. Rather than bringing innovative devices, the brand opted for mere rebrandings of existing Redmi phones. The first device was the POCO X2 that was nothing beyond a Redmi K40 4G. Then, the brand brought the POCO F2 Pro, a Redmi K30 Pro rebranding. It also released the POCO M2 Pro and M2 that were Redmi 9 and Note 9 Pro relatives. The big surprise came in September with the release of POCO X3. Rumors have it that the brand is now preparing a new variant dubbed POCO X3 Pro.

The POCO X3 will get a Pro variant in the next month

The POCO X3 was the first originally-designed phone released by POCO in 2020. The list of “original” POCO phones, actually, still is made of the Pocophone F1, POCO X3 and POCO M3. Hopefully, things will improve this year and the brand will offer more diversity. As far as the POCO X3 is concerned, the device became a hit selling thousands of units in just a couple of days. The device came with a gorgeous 120Hz LCD, a huge 5,160mAh battery, a 64MP Quad-Camera setup, and a Snapdragon 732G. The POCO X3 Pro probably will have a similar design and specifications, the PRO name certainly has to do with an improved chipset.

The original POCO X3

The first rumors about X3 Pro appeared this month. The reason behind it is that the handset has received approval from certification platforms like FCC, SIRIM, IMDA, EEC, and BIS. These certification authorities have revealed that the model number of the device is M2102J20SG/I. Judging by the number of certifications the device successfully acquired, we believe that it is inching close to a release. Now, tipster Debayan Roy, states that the POCO X3 Pro will go official in the first or second week of March in India.

The same leakster had correctly speculated the launch date of the POCO X3 back in September. For that reason, we believe that his claims are accurate and there is a strong chance that the POCO X3 Pro will appear in the next month. Unfortunately, the certifications didn’t reveal much about the handset, apart from the FCC.

POCO X3 PRO expected specifications

According to FCC, the X3 Pro has MIUI 12, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. These are pretty much standard features for a Xiaomi smartphone in the premium-mid-range segment nowadays. According to the XDA-Developers report, the “Vayu” and “Bhima” codenames are associated with POCO X3 Pro. It speculates that the device packs the sm8150 SoC, which is a Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 855+. In these days of Snapdragon 888, the 2019 flagship SOC is cheaper than before. It will allow POCO to bring the new device at a lower price tag. However, the camera may be downgraded to 48MP. We are curious to see how much this device will cost.

Other specifications will likely remain the same. The list includes 33W fast-charging, 5,160mAh or 6,000mAh battery with 33W fast-charging. The display should remain a 6.67-inch IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate.
