The month of March will be quite busy for Oppo. The brand is expanding the availability of its Oppo Reno5 series while is preparing the terrain for the imminent launch of the Oppo Find X3 flagship series. However, this does not mean that the company does not have time for launching mid-range phones under its cost-effective A series. A couple of months ago, the brand introduced the Oppo A73 in both 4G and 5G variants and according to a fresh report, it is preparing a sequel. The Oppo A74 is coming soon, and Oppo will keep the same strategy that consists in launching a 4G and a 5G variant of this handset. The device already passed through certain certifications, now detailed information appeared in the Netherlands.
Oppo A74 key specifications
First of all, the Oppo A74 will be a larger phone with 169.2 x 75.7 x 8.4 mm dimensions and 190g weight. These dimensions will bring a 6.8-inch panel which is 0.3-inch larger than the 6.5-inch panel found on the Oppo A73 5G. The handset will pack a Triple-Camera setup on the back that has the usual rectangular shape. The main sensor is a 48MP shooter which is pretty much standard among mid-tier phones nowadays. Unfortunately, there are no details about the other two sensors. In the best scenario, we have an ultra-wide-angle camera and a depth sensor. In the worst case, we’ll have two modest and not so useful macro and depth sensors.

The exact chipsets giving power to these smartphones are a mystery right now. Obviously, we have two distinct variations of SoCs here. One will be a 4G chip, while another one a 5G SoC. There are plenty of possibilities for both variants now. Both Qualcomm and MediaTek have many options for the pricing point of this handset. So we can set anything in stone right now. We know that both the Oppo A74 4G and 5G will have 128GB storage as a standard. We can also expect a microSD card slot allowing you to further expand this amount.
From a previous leak, we know that the Oppo A74 5G will come with a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast-charging. We don’t know if that will also be the case for the cheaper 4G variant. An intriguing fact is that the 5G option may be the only one coming with Android 11 ColorOS 11. The 4G variant is said to sport Android 10. However, we hope these reports are wrong, after all, launching an Android 10 phone at this point is unacceptable.
