Realme ended 2020 once again as the world’s fastest smartphone brand. The company grew in popularity due to its wide amount of cost-effective smartphones bringing decent specifications to the low and mid-tier segments. The company, for example, was one of the first brands to bring AMOLED displays to the mid-range class. It also bet on high-refresh-rate screens while other companies were still shipping 60Hz flagships (Hello, Xiaomi). But since the last year, the brand has been playing a big role in the expansion of the 5G segment, at least in China. Realme introduced a bunch of cheap 5G smartphones under its Realme V-series, and on March 31 is about to introduce a new phone dubbed Realme V13 5G.
The Realme V-series is composed of very affordable smartphones offering 5G connectivity. This has been achieved through the company’s partnership with MediaTek. The Taiwanese chipmaker managed to bring affordable 5G chipsets under its Dimensity lineup before Qualcomm. Only this year, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 480 SoC, but MediaTek was already reigning in the low-tier 5G segment with the likes of Dimensity 700 and DImensity 720. The latter will be powering the new Realme V13 smartphone. Today, the highly-anticipated handset made an appearance through a set of leaked images. The pictures confirm the handset’s back with quad-camera setup, the retail box, and the punch-hole display. In other words, this leak reveals the Realme V13 5G “in all its glory”.
Gizchina News of the week
Realme V13 5G specifications
The Realme V13 will pack the Dimensity 700 which is MediaTek’s most cost-effective chipset offering 5G connectivity. It’s an octa-core chipset featuring two BIG ARM Cortex-A76 cores with 2.2GHz plus six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz. This chip supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It also comes with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It’s a 7nm chipset, and that still is one of the most cutting-edge processes in the industry.
The chipset is modest if you take in consideration other chips in the Dimensity lineup. However, it still offers excellent performance for those who need a good phone for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. Moreover, the Realme V13 will come with specifications that are on par with certain flagships in the market. It will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of Internal Storage. We also expect MicroSD card support allowing for further memory expansion.
Furthermore, the entry-level handset appeared in a promo poster. It confirms a 5,000mAh battery, 90Hz refresh rate on an LCD panel, probably with HD+ resolution. We expect the Realme V13 to cost between CNY 1,500 – 2,000 which is around $230 – $300. Once again, Realme is showing how it can make cheap 5G phones. According to reports, the phone will be sold primarily via offline channels. So the chances of importing it from China are pretty much small.
