Realme usually runs a “know your realmers” campaign on its forums. It introduces key members of the company to Realme fans. It’s basically a Q&A session where Realme can get new fresh info about the company’s plans. The latest episode focuses on Francis Wong, the Chief Marketing Officer for Realme India and Europe. In the latest session, he teased the Realme GT arrival in India.
“I wish I could tell you the device I am using, it is our next flagship and it will launch as part of our 3rd-anniversary celebration. Just wait for it.”
In the beginning of March, the company unveiled the Realme GT 5G as its first flagship for 2021. The device was the Realme Race that has been leaking a lot in the previous months and runs Snapdragon 888. Besides Qualcomm’s high-end chipset, the phone also has nice features such as a 64MP camera, 65W fast-charging, and a 120Hz AMOLED display.
Realme recently released the Realme 8 Pro in India as its first 108MP camera smartphone. Now, when the company mentions “flagship” we can only assume it is the Realme GT. Interestingly, the company also unveiled the Realme GT Neo in the end of March in China. It packs similar specifications but shifts the Qualcomm chipset for a still capable MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip. The Realme GT has a price that starts at $465 whereas the Neo has a starting price of $275. Both devices could be released in India at the same time. The latter would be the perfect chance for the brand to counter the POCO X3 Pro which went official in the country last month. Also, the Neo cleared BIS certification last month, so its arrival in India is pretty much confirmed.
Gizchina News of the week
Worth noting that the Q&A session was posted in the India sub-forum, for that reason, we believe that this teaser is specifically mentioning India.
Since the device is coming to celebrate the company’s third anniversary, we can only expect it to be launched in May. After all, Realme debuted with the original Oppo Realme in May 2018. Since then, the company quickly grew into one of the most relevant brands in the smartphone scene. Nowadays, it is an independent brand free from Oppo ties, but just like other companies in the BBK group, it shares certain resources. The 65W fast-charging, for example, is also present in many Oppo smartphones.
In addition to the smartphone news, Realme also stated that its fans can expect new products from the brand in many categories. We are curious to see which categories will get new Realme devices. After all, the brand already has smartwatches, audio products, and even smart TVs in India.
