This year, Asus is expected to announce ZenFone 8 series smartphones. Information about one of the representatives of this family appeared in the popular Geekbench benchmark.

The device appears under the designation ASUS_I004D. According to some sources, this is the basic model of ZenFone 8, according to others – a more powerful variant of ZenFone 8 Pro.

The benchmark talks about using the Lahaina motherboard. This codename hides the flagship platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. The processor combines eight computing cores with a frequency of up to 2.84 GHz, an Adreno 660 accelerator and a Snapdragon X60 5G modem.

The version tested was equipped with 8GB of RAM, but observers believe the ZenFone 8 series devices will carry up to 16GB of RAM. The operating system is Android 11.

There were also reports that the family will include the ZenFone 8 Mini model. Moreover, it supposedly, like its bigger brothers, will carry a Snapdragon 888 chip on board.

The device has a 120Hz display and a PTZ camera. We do not know the timing of the announcement yet.

The compact flagship Asus ZenFone 8 Mini will receive a 120-Hz screen and a Snapdragon 888 chip

Information has appeared earlier on the Internet about the key technical characteristics of the compact flagship smartphone ZenFone 8 Mini, which Asus is preparing for release.

The “heart” of the powerful device will serve as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with eight cores (up to 2.84 GHz), an Adreno 660 graphics accelerator and a Snapdragon X60 5G modem.

The device will receive a Samsung OLED Full HD + display with a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels. The refresh rate of this panel will be up to 120Hz. The screen size will be relatively small by today’s standards – 5.9 inches.

It is not yet clear how many modules will be included in the main camera. But there are reports that one of them will be a unit with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor; and the other with the new Sony IMX663 sensor.

Apparently, the Asus ZenFone 8 Mini will be an Android alternative to the Apple iPhone 12 Mini, which features a 5.4-inch screen.

Unfortunately, there are no reports on when and at what price the new Asus product will enter the commercial market.
