Huawei stores across China have very few smartphones in stock

Since the ban on Huawei about two years ago, the company’s smartphone business has been going down. Huawei is not denying the effect of the U.S. ban on its smartphone business. In fact, a top executive of the company admitted that the company is just trying to survive. According to reports from China, Huawei smartphones are largely unavailable in China. When a customer asked where he can get a Huawei smartphone, a Huawei authorized experience store in the district of Beijing said: “It’s not just that our store that is out of stock. If you go to other stores in Beijing, or stores across the country, the situation is similar”.

According to the report, after visiting several Huawei authorized stores in the districts and counties, the situation is indeed true. There are basically only two or three models in stock, and some stores even have only one model. In fact, the number of stocks is very few and mostly in single digits.

Huawei’s consumer business CEO, Yu Chengdong, said “In less than two years, the United States imposed four rounds of sanctions on Huawei. The business is in extreme dilemma and cannot be shipped. The high-end products are mainly given to Apple”.

At the same time, Yu Chengdong further explained that “Huawei’s high-end mobile phones and tablets market share in China are now taken by Apple. For the mid-range and low-end share, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are claiming it. Our global market share is been divided between Samsung, Apple, and a few Chinese manufacturers”.

Huawei’s smartphone market share keeps going down

According to IDC, the first quarter shipment hit 346 million units. This is a year-on-year increase of 25.5%. For the first time in many years, Huawei is not in the top five. In the Chinese market, a Canalys report shows that the sales are now bouncing back. The market is now at the level of the first quarter of 2019. In the first quarter of 2021, smartphone shipments hit 92.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 27%.

However, Huawei is in the third position with a shipment of just 14.9 million units. Honor, after its independence, ranks sixth with nearly 5 million units. Huawei has always been on top of the Chinese smartphone market. However, when it does not have enough units to sell, its market share will obviously drop.
