ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini has full specifications leaked

ZenFone 8 Mini

ASUS decided to brings its ROG Phone series a little earlier than usual to compete with the likes of Black Shark and Red Magic. Now, the company is doing the same with its ZenFone 8 series. Instead of the usual schedule, the company will bring its ASUS ZenFone 8 series on May 12. Therefore the company will not lose ground for other competitors that already have flagships in the first half of 2021. According to rumors, the company is expected to bring at least three smartphones, a vanilla ZenFone 8, a Pro variant, and an ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini. That’s right, the company will join the trend for compact smartphones. Fortunately, a set of leaked specs have surfaced today so we won’t have to wait until May 12 to know what this Mini variant has in tow.

The following news regarding the ZenFone 8 family already saw a couple of leaks confirming the specifications. Today’s leak is a courtesy from the popular leakster Mukul Sharma and confirms most of the specs we’ve heard about the Mini variant.

ZenFone 8 Mini leaked specifications

According to the leak, the ZenFone 8 Mini will pack a 5.9-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution (presumably 2,400 x 1,080 pixels). The display comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and also hides a fingerprint scanner underneath. Moreover, it comes with Corning’s cutting-edge Gorilla Glass solution – Gorilla Glass Victus. The dimensions for the smartphone are 148 x 68.5 x 8.9mm and it weighs just 169g which is amazing considering that it has a smaller body to distribute the weight.

Gizchina News of the week

Under the hood, the ZenFone 8 Mini will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It confirms that the ZenFone 8 Mini can’t be judged by its size since it brings one of the best chipsets in the market right now. The phone is coupled with up to 16GB of RAM And 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. As we can see, ASUS is not playing games in terms of hardware. The battery size is quite modest if you consider nowadays standards. However, it still has a satisfactory capacity for a “Mini” smartphone. It has a 4,000mAh battery capacity and will be charged with 30W fast-charging via its USB-C port.

Decent camera setup that says good-bye to the flipping mechanism

In terms of optics, the handset will come with a 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera. As per other leaks, there will be three sensors. The secondary is a 12MP ultrawide camera and the third camera is a macro shooter. Just like other ZenFone 8 smartphones, the Mini will sport a punch-hole cutout. ASUS is leaving its flip-camera mechanism behind, but rumors point out the existence of a fourth ZenFone 8 smartphone carrying the “ZenFone 8 Flip” moniker. Of course, this is yet to be confirmed as ASUS is holding well the design of its smartphones. The front-facing camera will be a 12MP unit with EIS support. The main camera setup will be able to record 4K slow-mo videos with 120 frames per second.

Other specifications include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, Stereo Speakers, and FM Radio. Surprisingly, the device will have a 3.5mm headphone jack with support for Hi-Fi Audio. There is also a linear vibration motor, perhaps to improve the gaming experience. Apparently, the only missing feature is a microSD card slot.

Last but not least, the leak confirms three microphones and OZO audio support. Unlike the iPhone 12 mini which is somewhat “lackluster”, the ASUS Mini variant has enough resources to embrace those who are happy with this trend of taller screens.
