Meizu Watch surfaces on China Telecom website

Meizu Watch

Meizu is gearing up to announce its second smartwatch that is set to come under the “Meizu Watch” moniker. Unlike the first device that was more like a traditional watch, we expect the Meizu Watch to be packed with many smart features to compete in a market flooded with competition. Today, the alleged Meizu Watch was spotted on China Telecom’s very own website by the Weibo leakster @UncleMobile. It gives us a good glimpse of the upcoming wearable.

Those expecting an unconventional design will not be very pleased by the design. Apparently, the new wearable will be more close to Apple Watch with a square casing and a looped watch band. It also comes with a single button on the right side of the casing. It also has a nod for eSIM capabilities which means users will have a device that is more independent than those who need to be connected with the smartphone to have smart features.

Gizchina News of the week

Curiously, the first reports of a Meizu Watch started to pop out last year. On that occasion, we thought Meizu would bring its new smartwatch in Q4 2020. However, that didn’t happen. Now, these leaks confirm the device’s existence, but again, we can determine a launch date just yet. One thing we know that it will be the first smartwatch coming with Meizu’s very own Flyme for Watch iteration. We’re also curious to see if the company intends to push this device to global markets or will keep it as a Chinese exclusive. Unlike other companies, Meizu still struggles to build a global presence. The company has been losing ground in recent years while its fellow Chinese brands are shining across the world.

Flyme for Watch brings Meizu popular software to smartwatches

As far as Flyme for Watch is concerned, the new OS brings a set of features to enhance user’s experience with smartwatches. It comes with a standard card-based watch interface. Moreover, the OS is designed with fluidity in mind and is touted to maintain 60 frames per second in all user scenarios.

Furthermore, it brings the usual set of sports tracking applications. Moreover, it comes with notification support for social media and messenger apps. Meizu is also bringing a wide array to watch faces so you can pick your favorite among a huge list. There are controls for smart appliances, music players, remote camera shutters, and Meizu Pay. We expect to hear more about Flyme for Watch as well as the Meizu 18 series.
