Google Photos unlimited storage will end on June 1: Here’s what this means for you!

Google Photos

When it comes to photo sharing and storage service, Google Photos is indeed the popular and the best option out there. Since its initial release in 2015, the service has received a lot of new features, improvements, and whatnot. The key highlight of the service was its unlimited storage for photos and videos when stored at high quality. The original quality, on the other hand, takes up the required space from your Google Account quota.

Thanks to this unlimited storage, many smartphone users heavily rely on Google Photos for storing their photos on the cloud. Well, that is all set to change as the search engine giant has now decided to put an end to this unlimited storage offering. Here’s everything you need to know about this new decision and what it means for you.

Google Photos: Unlimited storage will see an end this month!

Google One

Google has now decided to end the unlimited storage offering for high-quality photos and videos on June 1. This means that you only have this month to make the necessary arrangements if you rely heavily on the service. From June 1, Google Photos will use the existing 15GB quota from your Google account to store the photos and videos. With that said, you now have two options to proceed further. You can either purchase the new plans to continue using Google Photos or you can simply download these files offline and maybe look for some alternative.

To keep using the service, you would need to subscribe to the Google One platform. Here’s the list of plans that we’re looking at.

Google One Plans

  • 15GB storage (existing) – Free
  • 100GB storage – $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year
  • 200GB storage – $2.99 per month or $29.99 per annum
  • 2TB storage – $9.99 per month or $99.99 annually

Depending on your storage needs, you can choose any of the above-mentioned Google One storage plans to continue using Google Photos. Apart from just storage, Google One program also brings some additional benefits to the table.

  • Access to Google experts
  • Option to add your family
  • Extra member benefits
  • Some cashback offers at Google Store (depending on the plan)

If you rely heavily on Google services such as Photos, Drive, and Docs, then going ahead with the subscription makes more sense. If you’re unwilling to pay Google for storing your photos and videos, then you can go ahead and download all these photos offline.
