The much talked about and hotly anticipated (at least here at GizChina) Xiaomi Tablet is now rumoured to run a MT6589T CPU suggesting it will support 3G and calling!
Xiaomi love to keep their fans guessing, and with mixed rumours surrounding the ‘Purple rice’ Xiaomi tablet they are certainly doing that! Earlier rumours talked of the Mi tablet running on a Mediatek MT8125 quad-core processor, or even a dated Tegra 3 chip, but new evidence suggests another route.
Gizchina News of the week
According to those close to Xiaomi, claiming to have insider knowledge of the tablet project, Xioami may have decided upon using a 1.5Ghz Quad-core Mediatek MT6589T processor. This would also suggest that the Xiaomi tablet will be able to make and receive calls and could even boasts a SD card expansion bay and dual-sim support (the Xiaomi Red Rice offers these features and is also based on the same SoC).
The 7-inch 1280 x 720 tablet, will also come with 1GB RAM, 16GB memory a 4000mAh battery, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and will run a new version of MIUI developed for tablet use!
Xiaomi are expected to officially unveil the ‘Purple rice’ tablet on 5th September at a price of just 999 Yuan ($160).
