Honor 50 series finally gets an official launch date

Today, Honor took to its official Weibo handle to announce that the Honor 50 series will officially arrive on June 16. The company will release its latest smartphones in Shanghai, China. The theme of the launch event will be “Vlog Image to the Beautiful Works”. Previously, Honor officially announced that the new flagship will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip. The Honor 50 will not be alone, it will also have a Pro and Pro+ model. According to initial speculations, the Honor 50 Pro+ will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, there is no official confirmation to this report.

There have been multiple leaks and speculations regarding the Honor 50 series. According to one of the leaks, this smartphone will have at least three colour options. It will come in green, orange gradient, and blue-violet gradient colour options. This device uses AG matte technology and a 1+2 dual-ring three-camera design on the back. It appears that this series will come with a periscope, outsole main camera, and an ultra-wide angle camera combination.

The Snapdragon 778G (SM7325)  is Qualcomm’s new mid-range processor. This chip uses a 6nm manufacturing technology. This chip uses 8 Kryo 670 cores (custom Cortex-78 cores) with a peak frequency of 2.4 GHz and an Adreno 642L graphics subsystem. The chipset should offer an integrated 5G ‑ modem Snapdragon X53, Spectra 570L ISP, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi 6E support. Among the distinguishing features of the Snapdragon 778G, they note support for Quick Charge 5 fast charging technology with a power of up to 100W.

Two Honor devices recently got the Chinese 3C certification. The model numbers of the two new 5G devices are NTH-AN00 and RNA-AN00. According to reports, these two models should be Honor 50 and Honor 50 Pro (not sure which is which ). However, the devices support 11V 6A up to 66W and 20V 5A up to 100W fast charge.

From the speculations so far, the Honor 50 series appears similar to the Huawei P50 series. At least one of these smartphones will come with a 6.79-inch AMOLED display that supports 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The battery should certainly be over 4,000 mAh and of course, there will be fast charging support. This new series from Honor will have an 11V 6A up to 66W or a 20V 5A up to 100W fast charge protocol. This is from a new certification on the Chinese 3C network. The Honor 50 series will be a mid-range to flagship series if the Honor 50 Pro actually uses the Snapdragon 888 SoC. What do you think about this new series from Honor?
