The large battery trend continues with this latest entrant from Chinese phone maker OUKI, the 5000mAh OK A50.
According to the advertisement details of the OK A50 the phone offers 500 hours of standby which is roughly 20 days! We’re not sure how accurate these claims are, but a quick look at the hardware does confirm that there are some energy-efficient choices going on.
Gizchina News of the week
Just plonking in a big battery and hoping for the best isn’t going to work, so OUKI have taken a good long look and chosen the components for the A50 wisely. For example the display is a 4.5-inch QHD (960 x 540) panel rather than a HD unit, and the processor is one of Meidatek’s quad-core models which are known for the efficiency (thankfully it’s the faster 1.5Ghz MT6589T). We also know the phone has Android 4.2.2 and of course a monstrous 5000mAh battery.
The OK A50 will go on sale very soon, put the exact date and price is still up in the clouds.

Nice think, walk the road where no one walks and then u can be the leader. Good smart thinking.
yeah! battery capacities of phones are increasing fast.
Soon, in an emergency, we might be able to jump start our cars 🙂
From lot of posts Andy is having trouble keeping the hardware side of these news interesting since 90 percent use the same guts.
Thankfully a 5000mah battery is very interestinng!
Yes but the question is; what are the dimensions? Because if it is more than 15mm wide it’s too big. I was bored to wait so I bought the Xiaomi m2a, I hope they will sort a 3000mah battery
so will this be 20mm thick and weigh upwards of 200 grams? lols
