The coronavirus epidemic and lockdowns across the planet changed almost everything. As people were not able to go to work, school, etc. and had to work and study from home, they needed not only appropriate devices but software as well. We know that the tablet and laptop markets began progressing like a shot. But we can say the same for various apps as well. Zoom that benefited the most also got a number of rivals. Microsoft, Google, Facebook and other quickly developed similar apps or made changes in the existing ones. And one of such features was group video chat.
Recently, we learned that Telegram has added a group video chat feature to its mobile and desktop app versions. In fact, Telegram promised this back in April 2020. Now, its voice chats (in any group) also support group video chat. Users just have to tap the camera icon to turn the video on.
However, there are some limitations. If you are not aware, Telegram allows unlimited number of users to participate in an audio call. But the group video chat feature allows only up to 30 people to join the call. Of course, this number is going to be increased in the nearest future. But at the moment, only the first 30 users can interact via video chat on Telegram. Moreover, like other similar platforms/features, users are able to share their screens during a video call.

Not Only Group Video Chat But Also Screen Sharing
Telegram has been considered to be one of the safest messaging platforms. But it started gaining momentum only recently. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said in January that the company had reached 500 million active users. As you guess, many of them migrated from Facebook’s WhatsApp. The latter announced changes in its policy, which made many users leave it and found more secure apps. Telegram benefited the most.
Of course, every user is important for WhatsApp. But even after the privacy policy changes, in February, there were more than 2 billion users. As a reminder, WhatsApp added group video and voice calling feature back in 2018.
Well, group video chat is a demanded feature, undoubtedly. But this is not the only new feature Telegram had announced recently. It also added other new features, including improved noise suppression and animated backgrounds. Users on both iOS or Android systems can choose from several default options or create their own animated backgrounds. And we guess more variants are on the way.
