Huawei P50 Pro 5G version will eventually come, P50 Pro+ will appear too

Huawei

After many delays, Huawei finally managed to bring its Huawei P50 series to the market. The lineup was composed by a Huawei P50 and P50 Pro. For the Pro variant, there are option with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000 SoCs. However, the big surprise is that none of them como with 5G modems. The reason is due to the four rounds of sanctions imposed by the United States government. Despite this, the company’s CEO Richard Yu states that 4G and Wi-Fi 6 are enough for most use scenarios. That’s quite ironic if you take in mind how many times Huawei promoted 5G in the past, and it is also one of the telecoms behind the 5G implementation.

The lack of 5G certainly make these devices less compeling for users in the premium mid-range department. 5G may not be necessary for everyone, may not even be possible yet in certain countries. However, the industry already moved to the fifth-gen network and nowadays most of the flagships come with support for it. The Huawei P50 Pro competes in a segment where all its competitors sport 5G connectivity. So, if you’re picking a future-proof smartphne, what one will you pick? The one that lacks 5G or the one that comes with it? Huawei may try to convince users that they don’t need 5G, but it will ultimately accept that it does. According to a report, there wil be a particular variant of the Huawei P50 Pro that will sport 5G connectivity.

Huawei P50 Pro 5G coming later this year, there will be a Huawei P50 Pro+

Gizchina News of the week

As per the tipster Digital Chat Station, there will be a variant of the P50 Pro that will pack a 5G version of the Kirin 9000 processor. The same will not happen for the Snapdragon 888-flavored versions. Unfortunately, there is no info yet on when this model will be available. In fact, some models of the Huawei P50 Pro won’t be sold until September alongside the standard P50. For that reason, we may not see the Huawei P50 Pro 5G version until much later, probably not before the Q4 2021. The source also states that there will be a Huawei P50 Pro+. Having this in mind, I think we shouldn’t wait for a Mate 50 series.
