The South Korean tech giant’s last flagship of this year dubbed, the Galaxy S21 FE appeared on TENAA in July with key specifications. This indicated that the phone could get an early launch. The rumor mill churned out speculations hinting at the phone’s October launch.
Earlier this month, a report from Phone Arena suggested that the Galaxy S21 FE was already in mass production. Regrettably, the publication has now reported that the phone’s launch will be delayed citing global chip shortage. In other words, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE smartphone will not launch soon. Now, a new report from a South Korean publication, DDaily suggests that the company has dropped its plan to launch the Galaxy S21 FE.
Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Has Been Cancelled
The current chip supply crisis has affected several companies, including chip foundry TSMC and chip giant Intel. Samsung was forced had to drop its plan to launch what could have been 2021’s Galaxy Note 21. Regrettably, now the company might have to cancel the Galaxy S21 FE for the sake of Galaxy Z Flip 3. It is worth mentioning here that the report from Samsung’s home country states that the Galaxy S21 FE launch event has been scrapped. Regrettably, the report does not provide a new date for the launch event.

However, a Samsung spokesperson claims that it was originally slated to take place in mid-October. Earlier this month, a report indicated that Samsung manufactured just ten thousand units of upcoming smartphones in September. This was a considerably less number, considering that the phone was set to launch soon. Noted tipster Max Jambor pointed out that manufacturers start mass production five or six months ahead of the launch. However, Samsung isn’t able to do it due to a chipset shortage.
Samsung Unpacked Event
According to the company’s official, Samsung will not hold the much-awaited Unpacked event in mid-October. The official goes on to reveal that the company could scrap its plan to launch the Galaxy S21 FE. Furthermore, the report attributes the cancelation of the event to the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s huge success. Aside from that, the global chip shortage could have led to the phone’s cancelation.
Since the tech giant’s budget foldable phone is selling too well, the report claims that Samsung is struggling to meet the skyrocketing demand. Samsung has decided to reconsider its priorities. As a result, the budget-friendly Galaxy S flagship did not stand a chance of hitting the store shelves this year. Samsung has neither confirmed nor denied this report. So, the report should be taken with a grain of salt.
