Sharp may not be the most trending company in the smartphone market, but it still has a range of smartphones coming every year. The company behind some innovative display technologies is here again to announce a new smartphone with 5G connectivity dubbed SHARP AQUOS sense6. The new handset has the iconic design of Sharp handsets and also shines in the display department with a 10-bit 120 Hz IGZO OLED display. It offers 5G connectivity thanks to a Qualcomm chipset that is not being widely used this year.
SHARP AQUOS sense6 specifications
The recently released SHARP AQUOS sense 6 flaunts a 6.1-inch 10-bit IGZO OLED Display. Interestingly, it’s quite compact these days when the smartphone has broken up the 6.3-inch barriers. The display offers a resolution of 2,432 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD+). Moreover, it offers 1 billion colors and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The panel offers a waterdrop notch, 13,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 1,300 nits peak brightness. As usual, Sharp focuses in the display to further affirm its name in this particular department.
While the display is from a flagship device, the performance is pretty much mid-range. The device comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It comes in two distinct configurations. The base model has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of Internal Storage, whereas the Pro variant offers 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of Internal Storage.

Moving around to the back, we have a squarish triple-camera setup. It comprises a 48 MP primary sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide snapper, and an 8 MP 2x telephoto shooter. The teardrop notch serves as a house for an 8 MP snapper. That’s a decent resolution for selfies and video calls, but it’s not on par with some mid-range smartphones in the market. However, the main rear camera setup innovates in this category with an 8 MP 2x telephoto shooter.
In terms of connectivity, the handset comes with 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GNSS, NFC with Osaifu-Keitai, a USB Type-C port. Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner and IP68 certification. The device draws its powers from a 4,570 mAh battery. Unfortunately, Sharp didn’t disclose details on the charging capabilities in this handset. Let’s hope for at least 18 W charging.
The smartphone measures 152 x 70 x 7.9 mm in dimensions and weighs 156 grams. Customers will have the option of four colorways – Light Copper, Silver, Black, and a Blue Metallic colorway. The new smartphone will be sold by the NTT DOCOMO carrier in Japan. Unfortunately, there is still no word on the pricing of the handset. However, it is already up for reservation.
