In recent years, smartphones have grown to the point where we don’t need specific lines for devices with large screens. This could explain why Samsung doesn’t have a reason anymore for keeping a separate lineup of Note smartphones. Also, it has been a long time since we’ve used the “phablet” term as most of the smartphones today have displays bigger than 6-inches. However, Honor believes that there still is a niche of users that want an experience that sits between the tablet and smartphone segment. The brand has been keeping up its Honor Max lineup alive for quite some time, and apparently, a new smartphone dubbed Honor X20 Max is coming this month to honor (non-intended pun) this legacy.
A few months ago, we saw leaks pointing out the release of the Honor X20 Max. The device will come with the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 SoC which gives it a stellar performance. This chipset has four ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.6 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores at 2.2 GHz. The device will come with a behemoth 6,000 mAh battery and has a massive 7.2-inch display. Unfortunately, other details as design aspects, camera specs are still a mystery. Thankfully, we will not need to wait much longer as the device is reaching the market later this month.
Gizchina News of the week
As we’ve said before the device’s design remains a mystery. But we expect it to be fairly similar to the regular Honor X20. That includes a punch-hole display with minimal bezels and a large circle in the rear for the camera setup. The device should be taller and also wider to house the larger panel. However, having a big display doesn’t necessarily mean the device will be insanely big. Honor can trim the bezels of the display to make it larger but still comfortable to hold.
Honor X20 Max alleged specifications
We expect the device to have a Full HD+ display with up to a 120 Hz refresh rate. Taking the Honor X20 as an inspiration, the bigger handset may retain the camera setup with a 64 MP main camera and two 2 MP modules for depth and macro photography. The big phablet may come with 6 GB/ 128 GB and 8 GB / 256 GB configurations.
According to a Weibo report, the Honor X20 Max will debut alongside the Honor Watch GS3 smartwatch. The new devices should hit the shelves at the Chinese Gingle’s Day Sale (Double 11) which will take place on November 11.
