This week, we got to know that Google will finally launch the Pixel 6 series on October 19. With Google showcasing the design and mentioning the new chipset that will be in use, there is very little we do not know about the basics of the device.
One of the key things missing as of now is the pricing, but, it seems that we now have a rough idea of how much Google’s next flagship device is going to retail for.
Reddit user u/the_amazing_rock has shared an image leaked via German retailer Saturn, which is one of the biggest retail chains mentions that the chain will likely sell the Google Pixel 6 for €649 or around $750.
What Does the Leaked Advert for the Google Pixel 6 Suggest?
The advert also mentions that users can get a set of Bose’s Noise-Cancelling Headphones 700 free of cost with a Pixel, which is impressive considering how the headphones cost $400.
This pricing seems to match previous and, given the consistency of these leaks, it might just be that Google will sell the device for around $750.
It is worth noting though that the ad copy also mentions that this deal will run from October 19 to October 27, a week from the launch, which is interesting since previous reports suggest that this will be the pre-order window.
Gizchina News of the week
Now, pricing very rarely carries over dot-for-dot across the pond. That means it is unlikely the Pixel 6 would cost $649 here. However, it could cost $799 or even $749, which would put it in direct competition with something like the Samsung Galaxy S21.
What Else is Google Working On?
In other Google news, this Monday’s official release of the Android update isn’t reaching the Google Pixel smartphones. The company has just pushed its source to the Android Open Source Project.
None of the Pixel smartphones is getting the stable update today. These smartphones will only get the stable Android release “in the next few weeks”. So, this is a release, but not a release that will favor many users.
Of course, with code pushed to the AOSP database, it means that custom ROM developers will be able to dig into the code and start publishing their Android 12-based Custom ROMs.
In a few hours, we may see the first smartphones getting Android 12 through the community. As far as Android OEMs are concerned, the first A12 updates should take a few more months.
We’ve been seeing companies like Oppo and Realme moving today to unveil their respective Android skins. The next few days will probably be followed by more announcements.
