The company will host another Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on October 20. Do not forget the fact that Samsung is now collaborating with AMD to create an Exynos chip with mRDNA graphics. Back in early summer, AMD head Lisa Su confirmed that the upcoming flagship Samsung processor will receive an RDNA2 graphics subsystem, as well as support for ray tracing and variable shading frequency. Then it was also said that before the end of this year, Samsung will reveal more details about the new chip. Perhaps it’s time to announce the Exynos 2200?

Samsung will transfer most branded smartphones to its own Exynos chips
Samsung’s semiconductor division will double shipments of Exynos processors next year, according to ETNews. It is believed that currently about 20% of Samsung Galaxy smartphones are based on Exynos chips.
Exynos chips are also used in smartphones from other manufacturers, but the number of such devices is extremely small. Samsung Exynos’ customer base is mostly exist in Chinese brands like Vivo and Meizu. Recently, Samsung chips have got criticism for not being the most outstanding performance and energy efficiency, as well as overheating under load.
Now that the company has adopted Arm’s original computing cores rather than its own custom ones, the performance of both flagship and mid-range Exynos models has improved markedly, and will probably get even better in the next generations. Insiders say 5G and heat issues will also be addressed in the very near future.
As a reminder, Samsung is partnering with AMD to take mobile graphics performance to the next level. The first brainchild of this partnership will be the Exynos 2200 chip; which will debut in the flagship Galaxy S22 smartphones. Many of Samsung’s next-gen affordable and mid-range devices will also receive proprietary processors. ETNews did not specify whether Samsung will expand the number of markets for Exynos versions of its flagship smartphones.
According to reports, the Exynos 2200 chip will be manufactured using a 5nm process technology. The processor will consist of one 2.9 GHz Cortex-X2 core, three 2.8 GHz Cortex-A710 cores; and four 2.2 GHz energy efficient Cortex-A510 cores. The GPU has a frequency of 1250 MHz.
