Software giant Microsoft is rolling out a new preview build for Windows 11 that will make it much easier for a user to share content from other applications to Microsoft Teams, the company’s video-conferencing platform.
This feature comes with the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22499 for the Dev Channel, as the company is rolling this feature out with the intention to allow Teams users to quickly and easily share open app windows content from Windows 11’s taskbar to the ongoing video call.
It builds on another feature introduced recently, which brought with it the ability to mute and unmute active meeting calls from the taskbar itself.
What is this New Feature for Microsoft Teams All About?
Microsoft will likely be removing the need to switch back and forth between apps to share or reshare a window via this new feature and, with less interruptions like these, the meeting attendees will be able to focus on their work much more.
If you wish to try this out, you need to be a Windows 11 Insider, after which you can test it out by downloading the latest preview build of the new operating system from Microsoft.

When it comes to how you can use this feature, when you are in a meeting in Microsoft Teams, you need to hover over the apps in their taskbar. A “Share this window” button will pop-up underneath the app preview, clicking which will let you share open windows with other attendants of the call.
In terms of stopping this, all you need to do is hover the cursor once more, and the “Stop Sharing” button shows up, pressing which will cease content sharing on PC, or let you choose another window to share.
How Does it Work?
This feature will also work when presenting full screen presentations in Microsoft’s PowerPoint tool by moving the mouse to the bottom, after which the taskbar will pop-up like before.
A blog post from Microsoft mentions that this new feature is a subset of the Windows Insider with Teams for work or school installed via the same, although it will be rolling out to more users soon. Chat from Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Teams for Home will also get this functionality at a later date, it adds.
Furthermore, there is also this message: “We are beginning to roll out the ability to quickly share the content from open app windows directly from your taskbar to your meeting calls starting with Microsoft Teams”
